The Data Center Operations Tier III Technician at Lightedge Solutions will manage and maintain all aspects of our data centers hardware while overseeing the scheduling of daily work tasks for the DC Ops team personnel. They will utilize and create standard operating procedures to perform and/or coordinate the routine maintenance and optimization of all systems. This role will involve working directly with other technicians, support staff, senior management, vendors, and contractors to consistently meet the highest industry standards for availability, security, and efficiency.
Work with Lightedge personnel, contractors, and vendors to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues involving data center infrastructure, systems, and hardware.
Install, configure, maintain, and reclaim servers, networking equipment, racks, cabinets, and associated copper and fiber cabling infrastructure.
Perform firmware upgrades, hardware replacements, cable identification, and infrastructure maintenance activities.
Coordinate and supervise vendor maintenance activities, onsite visits, facility access, and remote site support activities.
Assist project managers and technicians with new client service installations, custom hardware deployments, and infrastructure expansion projects.
Coordinate the design, layout, installation, and documentation of racks, cages, structured cabling, power connectivity, and airflow optimization initiatives.
Receive, document, track, and manage incoming and outgoing shipments, inventory, and asset management activities for data center and office equipment.
Respond to and resolve alarm events affecting critical infrastructure and services.
Follow established Change Control processes and review and execute Maintenance Operating Procedures (MOPs) during maintenance windows and change activities.
Ensure operational efficiencies and best practices are maintained to support uptime and availability across 24x7 mission-critical facilities.
Work with clients to resolve cabinet, cage infrastructure, connectivity, and power utilization issues.
Conduct and document facility inspections and audit activities to ensure compliance with company certifications and operational standards.
Monitor and report on power utilization, space utilization, environmental conditions, and infrastructure capacity planning.
Possess and maintain comprehensive knowledge of security, surveillance, access control, biometric, CMDB, ticketing, and building management systems.
Utilize and enhance building and computerized management systems to support infrastructure monitoring and operational visibility.
Facilitate and lead client, vendor, and internal data center tours.
Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and operational training to team members to support professional development and cross-training initiatives.
Share technical expertise and operational knowledge across DC Operations and Support teams.
Travel as required to remote data center locations, including possible international travel for custom hardware buildouts and support activities.
Participate in an on-call rotation to support after-hours maintenance, vendor oversight, break/fix activities, emergency response, infrastructure optimization, and client support.
Serve as acting lead or fill in for the Data Center Operations Manager when requested or during manager absences.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
A minimum of a two-year technical degree, or 8 to 10 years of equivalent experience in a technical environment, or a military occupational specialty (MOS).
Specialize as a subject matter expert in various systems, including security and biometrics, CMDB, capacity planning.
Experience with building and computerized management systems is required to support and enhance building monitoring systems.
Must show proficiency in different wiring requirements, including Ethernet, telephone, CAT6, and fiber (both single-mode and multi-mode).
Understanding data center cooling systems and airflow management techniques.
Demonstrated a comprehensive ability to document policies and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions
