Are you passionate about food, eager to learn and ready to start an exciting career in hospitality? At Summerfield Care Home, they are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Commis Chef to join their busy and friendly kitchen team.

Apprenticeship Overview:

• Salary: £8.00 an hour, Automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
• Working Week: Monday - Sunday (Hours to be confirmed) 
• Hours: 1 role 20 hours/1 role 30 hours
• Duration: 15 months
• Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship standard qualification
• Online and in-person training supported by our dedicated tutor
• Location: 12 Burton Road, Branston, Burton-On-Trent, DE14 3DN

As an Apprentice Commis Chef, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Prepare and cook appetising, nutritious meals for residents on a daily basis, following established menus and individual dietary requirements.
• Ensure meals are prepared safely and meet residents’ nutritional and dietary needs.
• Carry out basic food ordering and ensure food is stored correctly.
• Monitor stock levels and maintain effective stock rotation to minimise waste and ensure food freshness.
• Maintain accurate records, including cleaning schedules, food temperature checks and fridge temperature logs.
• Liaise with other members of staff regarding meal times, numbers of residents, special dietary requirements and individual needs.
• Ensure all records and documentation are kept accurate, up to date and properly filed, including temperature control and stock sheets.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety at all times.
• Carry out any other duties reasonably required within the scope of the role.

Qualifications:

• GCSEs in English and Maths at grades 4–9 (A*–C) desirable

Potential full-time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
