Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Establish and maintain EH&S specific organization chart for the division, within the established budgetary and strategic constraints of the organization.
- →Help establish, implement and report on annual EH&S goals and metrics with the support of the VP and Regional Managers.
- →Ongoing evaluation of the EH&S specific needs and resources within the division to support the growth of the business.
- →Develop and oversee new employee orientation program and support ongoing job specific safety training to all employees.
- →Support regional EH&S managers in establishing and adhering to a schedule for preparing, submitting, reviewing, and accepting all job site safety plans, forms, and incident investigations.
- →Develop and implement safety programs tailored to the specific needs and risks of the division, including policies, procedures, and training programs.
- →Ensure subcontractor compliance regarding EH&S requirements that comply with Loenbro and customer standards.
- →Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data on safety observations, near-miss incidents, injuries, and illnesses for the division. Develop programs and procedures to prevent such incidents.
- →Prepare a monthly safety performance report for the VP of EH&S and the executive management team.
- →Participate in fact finding Root Cause Analysis for injury/incident investigations and obtain accident and injury reports from jobsites.
- →Review weekly written reports from regional EH&S managers providing an overview of all safety-related matters at sites.
- →Coordinate with EH&S teams to conduct regular safety meetings. This includes preparing materials, setting agendas, and recording meeting minutes.
- →Monitor employee progress after any work-related injury/illnesses and support the facilitation of “return to work program” with employees, medical professionals, and project personnel. Ensure that regular contact with the employee is maintained.
- →Participate in regular Job Audits and worksite observations.
- →Serve as liaison for worker’s compensation reporting, case management, and participate in claims management process.
- →Participate as a productive team member within the leadership team of the division.
- →Demonstrate active, continuous professional development through personal training and education.
- →All other duties as assigned by the VP of EH&S.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in industrial construction and/or mining, with a focus on safety management or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive safety experience in the construction field, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and leadership, including management of personnel.
- Extensive working knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations, standards, and other applicable codes/regulations, with a proven track record of ensuring compliance.
- Prior experience working within the heavy industrial construction industry, including manufacturing, pipeline, mining, food and beverage, power, and refining environments.
- Ability to lead and manage a team of EH&S professionals effectively, demonstrating strong leadership skills and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively communicating safety policies, procedures, and training to divisional staff at all levels. This includes conducting safety meetings, presentations, and training sessions.
- Proven ability to assess potential hazards and risks within divisional operations and develop and implement strategies to mitigate them effectively.
- Experience in incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis to identify underlying issues and develop solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate safety processes and procedures based on data analysis, feedback, and industry best practices, leading to continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing safety programs tailored to the specific needs and risks of the division, including policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Knowledge and experience in developing emergency response plans and procedures, coordinating drills and exercises, and ensuring readiness for potential emergencies.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies and contractors.
- MSHA Certification or background required.
- Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies such as Job Safety Analysis (JSA) or Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) to ensure comprehensive safety practices.
- Experience in conducting safety audits or inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR, demonstrating the ability to respond effectively to safety incidents requiring immediate medical attention.
- Proficiency in using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal building code regulations with regard to safety, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards.
- Familiarity with safety management software or systems, facilitating efficient management of safety programs and documentation.
- Competency of all items required for Regional EH&S Managers, Area EH&S Managers, Site EH&S Managers and EH&S Technicians.

- Ability to Climb up and down stairs and ladders.
- Ability to traverse difficult terrain such as getting in and out of trenches/excavations and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights)
- Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds.
- Driving to travel (valid driver license and proof of insurability is required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.)
This role requires compliance with all applicable safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and Loenbro's Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies.
