Loenbro is seeking a Safety Trainer that is responsible for leading new hire safety orientations, ensuring that all employees are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to maintain a safe working environment. This role includes conducting both classroom and practical training sessions, ensuring compliance with workplace safety regulations, and supporting ongoing safety initiatives. Additionally, the Safety Trainer will be flexed out to project locations when there is no classroom training scheduled.
Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive safety orientations for all new employees, including site-specific protocols and general safety practices.
- Develop and update safety training materials, ensuring they meet current regulations and company standards.
- Assess understanding and retention of safety practices through interactive learning and testing.
- Address any questions or concerns from new hires regarding safety policies and procedures.
- Spend time in the field acting as a Safety Officer when there is no classroom training scheduled.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Work closely with site supervisors to enforce safety policies and ensure a safe working environment.
- Prepare detailed reports of field inspections, including any corrective actions required.
- Stay updated on federal, state, and local safety regulations and ensure training and practices meet all legal requirements.
- Collaborate with management to develop, review, and update safety policies and procedures.
- Provide recommendations for safety improvements based on field observations and regulatory updates.
- Participate in the investigation of accidents, near misses, and unsafe incidents to determine root causes.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of incident reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Lead refresher courses and ongoing safety training for existing employees.
- Coordinate and participate in emergency drills and safety exercises.
- Promote a strong safety culture by encouraging proactive hazard identification and safe practices in the workplace.
- Maintain detailed records of all training sessions, employee certifications, and safety meetings.
- Ensure that safety training records are up to date and accessible for audits and regulatory inspections.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex safety concepts clearly.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills, particularly in identifying safety hazards.
- Ability to work independently in the field and collaborate effectively with team members and site supervisors.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Safety certifications (such as OSHA510, HAZWOPER, or equivalent) preferred.
- MSHA Blue Card (Trainer)
- Prior experience as a safety trainer or safety officer in an industrial, construction, or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, including OSHA standards and industry-specific safety protocols.
- Prior mining experience
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Occasionally you may need to kneel, reach, or stoop.
- Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to both get in and out of trenches and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights).
- If driving is required, valid driver license and proof of insurability are required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.
This role requires compliance with all applicable safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and Loenbro's Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies.
