The Scheduling Manager is a senior member of the Project Controls group responsible for developing, implementing, governing, and improving scheduling standards and practices across Industrial Services. This role will lead the creation and maintenance of project schedules, schedule-related procedures, training, audits, and integration of schedule data into forecasting and project performance reporting. The Scheduling Manager partners closely with Project Management, Regional Operations, Estimating, and Finance to ensure schedules drive on-time, on-budget project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and continuous improvement of scheduling Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the full project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with project setup, execution, forecasting, billing, and closeout.
  • Create and maintain company master scheduling templates, time-phased budgets, and schedule logic standards for use across bids and executed projects.
  • Produce, review, and approve detailed project schedules and recovery schedules for high-risk or complex projects; ensure schedules are resource- and cost-loaded where required.
  • Integrate schedule data with cost and progress reporting to support regular earned value, progress, and forecasting cycles.
  • Partner with Estimating to incorporate schedule assumptions, production rates, and constructability lessons into pre-construction and bid packages.
  • Design and deliver training materials and sessions for planners, project managers, superintendents, and schedulers; define proficiency levels and certify schedule owners.
  • Establish and run schedule governance processes, including baseline approvals, change control for schedule revisions, and schedule health KPIs.
  • Perform regular schedule audits and health checks across regions; develop remediation plans and support on-site turnarounds when schedule performance is at risk.
  • Work with Master Electricians, field leadership, and HR to confirm resource availability, skill assumptions, and schedule-related compliance for electrical and trade work.
  • Support month-end and project forecasting by validating schedule inputs, critical path integrity, and earned progress against planned milestones.
  • Mentor and coach junior schedulers and planners; build bench strength in the Project Controls team.
  • Coordinate with IT and systems teams to optimize scheduling tools, integrations (P6, MS Project, HCSS, or similar), and reporting dashboards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 12–15 years of construction industry experience with a minimum of 6 years focused on scheduling or project controls on industrial or heavy-construction projects.
  • Demonstrated advanced expertise with P6 (Primavera) or equivalent enterprise scheduling software and schedule risk analysis techniques.
  • Strong working knowledge of cost systems and integrations (HCSS HeavyJob, Viewpoint, ERP systems) and how to schedule data maps to cost and billing processes.
  • Proven track record creating, defending, and auditing complex, resource- and cost-loaded schedules.
  • Experience developing SOPs, training programs, and governance frameworks for schedule management.
  • Excellent technical writing, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to travel to job sites and work collaboratively with field leadership and trade partners.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record; ability to pass company background check.
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Project Controls, or related field.
  • Experience with scheduling in electrical-heavy or industrial services environments and direct experience coordinating with Master Electricians and trade leadership.
  • Certification such as PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) or AACE Certified Scheduling Professional (PS) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with schedule-integrated forecasting, earned value management, and schedule risk quantification.
  • Exposure to construction and industrial site hazards including uneven surfaces, heavy equipment, noise above 85 decibels, odors, confined spaces, and variable weather conditions.
  • Travel in adverse weather conditions and occasional air travel.
  • Access to elevated areas and trenches on project sites.
