Key Accountabilities
• Carries out inspections, audits and assessments of hazards and unsafe conditions at mine sites. Observes compliance by employees to the mine’s safety rules & regulations and submits written reports on violations accordingly
• Investigates all injury and non-injury accidents and determine the causal factors and submit established recommendations to concerned department heads
• Ensures that contractors’ employees are cognizant with company safety regulations/procedures, environmental regulations and follows up to assure full compliance
• Records & study accident statistics & proposes essential actions to enhance safety performance and minimize occurrences of accidents. Initiate distributions of safety communications materials, letters as part of general safety promotions to enhance safety consciousness of all employees
• Represents safety section in committees’ safety meetings and takes part in emergency teams operations as required
• Coordinates with Internal Audit (Finance) all incidents particularly equipment and property damage that are subject for insurance claims
• Prepares weekly & monthly safety reports and submits to key personnel concerned
• Monitors mine sites with respect to any matters relating to safety, existing or new, as well as any new tasks relative to these issues and recommend necessary corrective actions to responsible personnel when any incidents or violations occur
• Together with general foremen and superintendents, assesses potential safety problems and implements corrective actions.
• Establishes a safety culture strategy for the mine site.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
B.A. or B.Sc. in Mining, Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline
Minimum Experience:
Three (3) to Five (5) years safety engineering experience, preferably in the mining or oil and gas industries.

Skills:
• English language proficiency (oral and written)
