Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. \r\n**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies** \r\n
Nature of Work
The\r\nfundamental reason this job exists is to identify and monitor offenders placed\r\ninto community corrections programs, monitor and track the population of the\r\nMontgomery County Detention Facility and to secure alternative releases for\r\ntargeted populations. The essential functions are:� researches possible alternative releases for post-trial\r\noffenders; supervises/monitors misdemeanor and felony offenders and pre-trial\r\npopulation individual participating in community corrections programs; reports\r\nprogress of offenders; performs administrative duties; performs law enforcement\r\nduties in conjunction with monitoring offender activities; prepares reports and\r\ndocumentation; and manages the expedited docket.� The Community Corrections Officer reports\r\ndirectly to the Assistant Director of Community Corrections.\r\n
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration,\r\npublic administration, criminal justice, criminology, counseling, psychology,\r\nsociology or a closely related field from an accredited college or\r\nuniversity.� One year of offender case management experience working in an\r\nattorney’s, judge’s office or sheriff’s office, correctional facility,\r\nprobation or Community Corrections department or other qualifying court-related\r\nexperience.� Preference\r\nmay be given to qualified applicants who are currently APOSTC certified.� (Academy\r\nfees are paid by the employer)\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE:��Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the\r\nrequisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.\r\n�\r\n
Special Requirements
Must have a valid\r\nAlabama Driver’s License or have the ability to acquire one at the time of\r\nemployment. �\r\nNOTE:� Hired employees in this position must enter the first available class to obtain APOST Peace Officer\r\nCertification.� For those\r\nwho are not APOST certified continued\r\nemployment is contingent upon obtaining the APOST Certification.\r\n\r\n
