Introduction
Maryland Public Television, commonly known as MPT, is a public television network that broadcasts throughout the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia and into parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is Maryland's only statewide broadcaster. Headquartered in Owings Mills, MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and is a producer of both locally and nationally distributed TV programs and digital content.\r\n�\r\n\r\n

Main Purpose of Job
This position requires providing experienced, high-quality service to regional and national productions as well as non-broadcast special projects, by functioning as a director, technical director and/or videographer as the situation warrants. Will be responsible for the 'look' of the program and coordination of all technical elements and personnel for multi-camera productions, both in the studio and on location. Contemporary production practices dictate that productions move beyond the confines of the studio and go directly to the story, regardless of where it is. A primary asset of the Director/Videographer is the ability to maintain high-caliber production standards on location, adapting to diverse and challenging environments to capture impactful content beyond the studio.
POSITION DUTIES
\r\n\r\n \r\n Operates portable equipment, such as video camera and accessories, microphones and audio mixer, lights and lighting related accessories, production equipment and transport vehicle with the objective of recording video and audio for use in a production.\r\n \r\n \r\n Coordinate production elements including planning, consulting and holding pre=production meetings\r\n \r\n \r\n Perform the duties of Technical Director such as operating the production switcher, graphics equipment and timing segments\r\n \r\n \r\n Act as the Director of Photography by making decisions on overall composition, continuity and sequencing.�\r\n \r\n \r\n Works with minimum supervision, while maintaining high standards of video production.\r\n \r\n \r\n Position requires a firm grasp of the aesthetics of photography, camera movement and composition, plus facility with camera recorded audio.\r\n \r\n \r\n Direct on-camera talent, to ensure quality performance.\r\n \r\n \r\n Address specific needs of the clients (i.e., producer, reporter, and director).\r\n \r\n \r\n Manage projects while adhering to time and budget constraints\r\n \r\n \r\n Assemble and disassemble sets, move and hang fixtures from a studio grid, assist the lighting director, and setup and/or strike equipment after a production.\r\n \r\n \r\n Perform in the role of floor director, camera operator, production assistant, robotic camera operator or teleprompter operator.\r\n \r\n \r\n Location shooting lacks the controls of the studio environment, therefore, the incumbent must display flexibility and initiative in achieving high standards.\r\n \r\n \r\n The videographer must drive the state vehicles in a responsible manner. Maryland Public Television's name is on every videographer’s van. The videographer must also maintain a log sheet for regular maintenance.\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
\r\nEducation:�Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\n�\r\nExperience:�Five (5) years of�experience�in the field of television or film as part of a production team\r\nusing�portable equipment,�such as�video camera and accessories, microphones and audio mixer.��\r\n�\r\nNote:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to two years of the required experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\nPreference will be given to applicants�who possess the following preferred qualification(s).�Include clear and specific information on your application regarding�your qualifications.\r\nProficiency operating a drone for videography\r\nExperience shooting broadcast news and/or feature packages with the ability to frame scenes and follow the action on location.\r\nAbility to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of video production.\r\nAbility to use and maintain a variety of video and audio equipment.\r\nExperience in framing shots and performing various camera techniques.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
\r\n\r\n \r\n Applicants are required to provide a copy of a demo reel or link for a demo reel, if selected for an interview.\r\n \r\n \r\n This position may require a flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.�\r\n \r\n \r\n This position may require working outside in unfavorable or harsh weather conditions that might include exposure to the sun, wind, water, etc.�\r\n \r\n \r\n This position may include long periods of walking, standing, climbing, and maneuvering in and around tight spaces.�\r\n \r\n \r\n The selected candidate will be required to lift equipment in excess of 50 pounds.\r\n \r\n \r\n The selected candidate may be required to climb ladders and use motorized lifts in order to operate and install in-studio lights.\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n
