Main Purpose of Job

The Natural Resources Planner III will\r\nwork within the Office of Recycling, and will be responsible for implementing\r\ncircular economy and waste diversion actions. The incumbent in this role will be\r\nresponsible for planning projects, preparing regulations, conducting research,\r\nand evaluating administrative, regulatory, and technical information to\r\nimplement the state's waste diversion programs. Key responsibilities include\r\npromoting the development of markets for recycled materials, identifying\r\nfunding mechanisms for recycling infrastructure, and identifying�opportunities for businesses to\r\nutilize recycled products. Additionally, the incumbent in this position will be\r\nresponsible for updating guidelines and mapping systems for food residual waste\r\ndiversion,�overseeing compliance and enforcement\r\nof the state’s food residual law, and assisting with�paint stewardship and electronics\r\nregistration programs. The Natural Resources Planner III will coordinate\r\noutreach with businesses and government agencies to gather feedback and promote\r\nbest practices that support Maryland’s circular economy. The incumbent will\r\nalso prepare reports on recycling market development activities.\r\n�\r\nThe incumbent in this\r\nposition will be required to drive a State vehicle.��If you maintain an out-of-state\r\ndriving license, you must provide a certified copy of your driving record for\r\nthe appropriate Motor Vehicle Administration at the time of appointment.\r\nIndividuals must maintain a driver's license with no more than 5 points on\r\ntheir driving record in order to drive a State vehicle.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:�� A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or�university in an environmental science or natural resources planning, management or development.\r\nExperience:�Three years of experience in natural resources planning or applied environmental science.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in urban or�regional planning, engineering, physical geography, or the�physical, chemical, biological sciences and one year of experience in natural resources planning or applied environmental science for the required education.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s�degree from an accredited college or university in natural resources planning, management, administration,�development, environmental, urban or regional planning;�resources economics or development; environmental system�management; water or land resources planning and management; environmental landscape architecture; or the physical, biological, chemical or environmental sciences for�up to three years of the required experience.\r\n3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the�general natural resources management and biological sciences classifications or general natural resources management and biological sciences specialty codes in the general natural resources management and biological sciences field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.��\r\n
