We are seeking passionate individuals for the role of the Skilled Trades Specialist IV, so come join our team and make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS!\r\n\r\n\r\nThis position is responsible for the daily-uninterrupted operation of the Alfred D. Noyes Children’s Center and handles maintenance duties such as HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and preventative maintenance. The Skilled Trades Specialist IV may also handle new construction, installations, alterations, renovations, painting, and repairs of facility equipment, electrical work and grounds maintenance/snow removal in order to maintain the facility.�\r\n\r\n\r\nThis position requires the incumbent to work second shift, 10:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

\r\nThe Skilled Trades Specialist\r\nIV position duties include, but are not limited to:\r\n� Performing maintenance and repairs for all\r\nbuilding systems to maintain the facility.\r\n\r\n� Installing, repairing and maintaining plumbing\r\nsystems.\r\n\r\n� Performing maintenance and repairs on various\r\nelectrical equipment and fixtures.\r\n\r\n� Performs road repair and walkways.\r\n\r\n� Applying plaster to walls and ceilings,\r\nrepairing damaged surfaces and performing concrete work on various structures.\r\n\r\n� Prepares interior and exterior surfaces for\r\npainting.\r\n\r\n� Operates central air conditioning plants and\r\nequipment, conducts safety inspections of boilers and provides oversight to the\r\ncleaning, repair and maintenance of furnaces and boilers.\r\n\r\n� Providing year-round outside grounds\r\nmaintenance for DJS facilities to maintain a safe and properly manicured\r\nproperty\r\n\r\n� Assisting in the relocation of furniture and\r\nother equipment necessary to provide the proper environment of occupants at\r\nvarious buildings.\r\n\r\n� Carries out repairs to\r\nbuildings as a Skilled Trades Specialist IV. Exhibits the ability to\r\ninterpret\r\nand analyze specific instructions provided by the supervising Maintenance\r\nSupervisor IV for minor repairs.\r\n\r\n� Performs the Preventive\r\nMaintenance plan as instructed for the facility plant operation in\r\naccordance\r\nwith all required repairs.\r\n\r\n� Performs all\r\nresponsibilities assigned by the supervising Maintenance Supervisor IV;\r\nexhibits\r\nskills\r\nnecessary to operate all maintenance tools.\r\n\r\n� Performs emergency\r\nrepairs.\r\n\r\n� Performs functions as\r\nrelated to Logistics Control.\r\n\r\n� Performs proper\r\noperation of all State owned vehicles and ground equipment in accordance\r\nwith all\r\nDJS policies.� �\r\n� Daily record keeping to\r\nensure compliance with DJS and ACA standards.\r\n\r\n� Responds to the\r\nfacility when instructed to complete repairs and for weather related facility\r\noperations.\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency \r\ncertificate. \r\nExperience: Five years of experience performing skilled trade work in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, locksmith, masonry, painting, or welding work. \r\nNote: \r\n1. Candidates may substitute additional years of experience for the required education on a year-for-year basis. \r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. \r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\nThe\r\npreferred candidate for this position may possess any of the following\r\nqualifications:\r\n\r\n� Experience in grounds\r\nmaintenance�\r\n� Experience overseeing a complex\r\nrepair or renovation project by ensure that the work met safety codes and state\r\nregulations, stayed on budget, and was completed on time.�\r\n� Experience staying current with\r\nchanges in building codes, OSHA standards, and trade-specific regulations.�\r\n� Experience mentoring or\r\nsupervising lower-level technicians.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. \r\n2. Employees in this classification who perform electrical work and are assigned to facilities that mandate licensed electricians must possess a current license as a Master Electrician or other appropriate electrician license from a local board or from the Maryland State Board of Master Electricians, 500 N. Calvert Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21202-3651. \r\n3. Employees in this classification who perform work as a plumber must possess a Maryland Journeyman/Gas Fitter License. \r\n
