Main Purpose of Job

This position provides clinical crisis management, various groups, family therapy, and clinical advice and support to adolescents in a residential treatment center for emotionally disabled adolescents. This position requires someone who demonstrates specific expertise in understanding the symptoms and treatments for clients with diagnoses that are typically seen in emotionally disabled adolescents.\r\nThis is a permanent night shift position that includes weekend coverage and requires the incumbent to provide clinical support, crisis intervention, and therapeutic services during evening hours and weekends as scheduled.\r\nThis position requires someone who can work effectively with a treatment team made up of nursing/residential, educational, and therapeutic recreation staff, as well as Social Workers, Psychologists, and Psychiatrists, to provide treatment that is family-driven and youth-guided. The incumbent of this position must also be able to generate the extensive documentation, including progress notes, assessments, and reports, required in a contemporary mental health setting.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

\r\nEducation:�� Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience:�Two years of experience rendering clinical social work services in a health care or treatment setting subsequent to the receipt of an approved Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.\r\n\r\n\r\nNote:�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service�experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a�commissioned officer in Social Work classifications or Social�Work specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology, and Welfare field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required�experience.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess experience working with adolescents with emotional disabilities and court involved youth.\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates must be licensed as a Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker, Clinical by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license is obtained, submit a copy to the Maryland Department of Health�Testing Unit.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess an appropriate operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n\r\n
