About the Role

Mfinite Consulting LLC is recruiting Non-Medical Personal-Care Staff (also referred to as "Temporary Employee Personnel") to support students with extensive cognitive, medical, physical, and/or behavioral disabilities in public school classrooms in Howard County, MD. In this role, you will act as a non-medical companion to one or more students, ages 3-21, helping them access academic instruction and participate fully in the school day under the direction of a classroom teacher and their Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).

Responsibilities

  • Support consistent implementation of the assigned student's IEP and/or BIP as directed by the student's educational team.
  • Help the student build independence, socially appropriate behaviors, and communication skills by modeling and reinforcing positive behavior.
  • Support student safety through appropriate, trained intervention strategies.
  • Assist with academic tasks and functional skills, including the use of assistive technology or adapted equipment as directed.
  • Support the student during transitions, lunch, recess, assemblies, and other non-instructional activities.
  • Assist with physical care needs as assigned, which may include lifting, positioning, transferring, toileting assistance, feeding, and personal hygiene support.
  • Escort the student to and from areas in and outside the building.
  • Collect data on student goals, objectives, and behavior plans as directed.
  • Communicate daily with the assigned teacher regarding student progress or concerns (communication with parents is handled by school staff, not by this role).
  • Immediately report anything that compromises a student's health, safety, or well-being to school staff.
  • Attend all required district pre-service and in-service training sessions.
  • Complete and submit timesheets accurately and on time.

Note: Specific duties are tailored to each student's IEP; not every placement will include every duty listed above.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Able to provide valid U.S. work authorization (Form I-9).
  • Able to pass a Maryland criminal history background check (State repository check via fingerprinting) prior to placement.
  • Able to complete the Maryland Education Article §6-113.2 employment history review (required for any position involving direct contact with minors).
  • Not a registered sex offender under Maryland law.
  • Reliable transportation to and from assigned school site (transportation is the employee's responsibility).
  • Comfortable assisting with physical care tasks including lifting, positioning, and toileting support.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information at all times.
  • Prior experience with children or adults with disabilities preferred but not required — paid training is provided.

Placements are assigned to a specific school (elementary, middle, or high school) for the duration of the school year, working the school's regular instructional hours, Monday through Friday, for approximately 24 hours/week. Staff do not report when schools are closed for weather or other emergencies.

  • W-2 employment with Mfinite Consulting LLC (this is not a 1099/contractor role).
  • Coordination and paid-training approval for all required district pre-service and in-service training.
  • A dedicated HR compliance point of contact for onboarding, scheduling, and support throughout your placement.
  • A consistent school-year schedule with the possibility of returning in future school years as the contract renews.

Submit a resume and completed application through Mfinite Consulting LLC's careers page or [insert Manatal/ATS application link]. Qualified candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview, followed by background screening and onboarding prior to school placement.
