Nature of Work
The fundamental reason this position exists\r\nis to perform supervisory, technical, and administrative work directing and\r\noverseeing the activities of communications center operators and dispatchers\r\nassigned to a shift to include answering emergency and administrative calls;\r\noversight of the delivery, or performance of, pre-arrival and post-dispatch\r\ninstructions as warranted; oversight, or performing dispatching of the most\r\nappropriate emergency response personnel using a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)\r\nsystem and a land mobile radio network,� training dispatchers and operators, monitoring\r\nradio and telephone traffic, quality reviews, employee evaluations, and other\r\npublic safety communications supervisory duties as assigned. This classification\r\nreports to and receives general instructions from the\r\nEmergency Communications Center Manager.�\r\n
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED, and at least four\r\n(4) current years of combined E9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency telephone\r\ncalls, and provide radio communications support to fire, medical, and law enforcement\r\nresponders in a dispatching capacity of an organization equal in programmatic scope\r\nand geographical size comparable to the City of Montgomery.�\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE:�Qualifying education, training, and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.\r\n\r\n
Special Requirements
Applicant must be able to type at least 35 wpm.�Must be available to work any hour shifts as needed to oversee operations and ensure consistency among the shifts. Applicant must be willing to sign a willingness statement,�must be willing to respond to the Emergency Communications Center to meet community service expectations, respond to and recover from disasters and other significant events, and follow the instructions of organization leadership.�The City of Montgomery's Emergency Communications Center operates 24/7, year-round. You will be required to work non-business hours, weekends, and many holidays. However, employees receive additional compensation for these inconveniences.�\r\n
Kind of Examination
