Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. \r\n**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and the Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations** \r\n

Nature of Work

The\r\nfundamental reason this classification exists is to perform technical\r\nengineering work, including inspecting new developments and public works\r\nprojects. The work responsibilities include reviewing site plans, conducting\r\non-site inspections, communicating with consultants and design engineers,\r\nassisting citizens with city-related concerns, and coordinating with utility\r\ncompanies and State agencies. The employee will report directly to a\r\nhigher-level Engineering Technician, Civil Engineer, or Professional Engineer.\r\n

Minimum Qualifications

High\r\nschool diploma or a GED and three (3) years of technical engineering experience\r\nin the area of traffic, public works, planning, and/or transportation.\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE:� Qualifying education, training, and\r\nexperience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to\r\nperform the job will be considered.\r\n\r\n

Kind of Examination

The current vacancy is with the�City of Montgomery Engineering Department.�Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and attached supplemental questionnaire. For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application form and the supplemental questionnaire completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were.� If more than five qualified applications are received, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants. Tied scores will not be broken.
