Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller, Director of Accounting will lead a motivated team of individuals based in the US and in India and is responsible for managing the accounting operations for Model N.  Responsibilities will include consolidation processes, compliance activities, financial reporting, tax, cash management and forecasting, ownership of a subset of accounting functions such as payroll, accounts payable, expense reports. The Assistant Controller, Director of Accounting, will be a strategic partner to our business teams and will support their numerous initiatives. Building strong business relationships within the organization will be a significant component of this position’s responsibilities.

  • Provide global leadership and oversight for accounting close, internal control and consolidation processes
  • Own payroll function, including international subsidiaries, global accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaids, accounts payable, accruals and equity administration.
  • Develop relationships with auditors and tax service providers in US and internationally
  • Provide thought leadership for systems implementation and integration (ERP, Expense Reports, PR/PO systems, AP module, equity accounting and administration for private sector, payroll)
  • Works cross functionally to update and maintain operational policies, such as Travel and Expenses
  • Keep accounting policies up-to date (e.g. Fixed Assets and Prepaids etc.)
  • Continuously strive to increase productivity in accounting organization, encourage use of AI in business processes and as work efficiency tools.
  • Review, interpret and develop diverse policies to ensure compliance with company policies and US GAAP.
    • Manage and comply with local, state, federal and international government reporting requirements and tax filings.
    • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
    • Design financial statements flow and work closely with FP&A team to support the preparation of monthly and quarterly group financial statements to be included in Model N’s periodic reporting packages including balance sheets, statements of operations and statement of cashflows.
    • Drive to continuously improve the accounting and reporting process, identify and implement efficiency and automation across the accounting function.
    • Work with business teams, FP&A, IT, Legal and other departments to further develop policies and processes surrounding the operations and capital expenditures.
    • Work with business partners to improve accuracy and timeliness of inputs for key financial processes
    • Lead Model N’s Accounting team of 4 US and 4 offshore employees, enhancing a high-performance team and culture.
    • Project manage special projects as necessary.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting
  • CPA license required, strong in-depth knowledge of US GAAP, local regulations and working knowledge of accounting methods and workflows
  • 15+ years of accounting experience, including in senior management roles
  • Experience leading off-shore accounting center of excellence or shared services
  • Experience with engaging third parties’ consultants for added expertise
  • Experience with M&A activities and changing entities structure, including opening / closing foreign entities
  • Have an ownership mindset and a “can-do” attitude coupled with a strong work ethic
  • Resourceful in overcoming barriers and ensuring solutions, forward-thinker
  • Experience working with Oracle Netsuite or other similar ERP systems
    • Demonstrated experience using generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, Gemini) to improve productivity, decision‑making, or problem solving in a professional or personal context.
      • Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and integrity
      • High level of attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize demands and meet deadlines
      • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional, high-growth environment, and to lead and drive complex initiatives
      • Proven track record of collaborative and empathetic leadership with a keen ability and desire to mentor staff on career development
