JOB SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day production activities, to ensure operational efficiency and lead a team of production technicians. The Production Supervisor will play a crucial role in achieving production targets, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a collaborative work environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning and Execution:

    • Collaborate with the management team to develop and execute production plans.
    • Oversee and coordinate daily production activities to meet cost, volume and quality targets.
    • Monitor and adjust production schedules as needed to optimize efficiency and achieve production KPI’s.


Quality Control:

      • Ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures throughout the production process.
      • Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective actions to address quality deviations.
      • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to maintain product quality, implement product development programs and test innovations. 


Safety Compliance:

    • Champion and enforce safety protocols and guidelines within the production team.
    • Ensure adherence to all safety standards.
    • Investigate and report any safety incidents, implementing corrective actions.


Equipment and Maintenance:

    • Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure the proper functioning of machinery and equipment.
    • Coordinate routine maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
    • Report equipment malfunctions promptly and work towards continuous improvement.


Process Optimization:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
    • Collaborate with the engineering team to implement improvements and upgrades.
    • Collect and analyze data to identify trends and areas for optimization.


Communication and Collaboration:

    • Effectively communicate with other departments, including engineering, quality assurance, and logistics.
    • Collaborate with the inventory team to manage raw material and finished goods inventory levels.

 

People Management 

  1. Scheduling staff members’ shifts according to workload demands and assigning daily activities.
  2. Supervise, motivate and monitor the performance of the production team. 
  3. Actively participates in the recruitment process for the department by identifying staffing needs and shorting potential candidates by utilising the company’s HRIS (BambooHR).
  4. Assist in the performance management process within the department by providing continuous and constructive feedback, keeping communication lines open, providing clarification of expectations and identifying areas for improvement.
  5. Actively coaches the staff to unlock team member’s potential and growth, help them to develop new skills and to aid in promoting individual responsibility, in collaboration with the management team.
  6. Shares the responsibility with the management team in conducting annual performance appraisals for staff, ensuring that the process is fair, free of biases, accurate, and promotes the overall purpose of the performance management system.


Training and Development 

  1. Assist in all aspects of Training and Development and Talent Management to maximize staff's personal and professional growth, in accordance with the company's Human Resources - Training and Culture Development team initiatives.
  2. Identify and conduct assessments to determine what training needs are required for staff within the department to increase job knowledge.


Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Agriculture, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within feed milling or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of feed mill operations, production processes, and machinery.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and resolve operational issues.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and commitment to creating a safe work environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
