~1 min readOur client is a Canadian specialty aerospace and defence company in the Greater Vancouver area, British Columbia providing aircraft maintenance, engineering and modification services to military and commercial customers. As part of the Training department, the Workplace Coach (Instructor) joins a team that develops, coaches and mentors apprentices across three aviation trades, supporting the company training academy and the next generation of aircraft maintenance talent.
Responsibilities
~2 min readYou will deliver aircraft technical training along with hard and soft skills development, evaluate and build learning paths for apprentices, and work closely with Supervisors, Crew Leads and production staff to make sure apprentices get quality work experience and progress toward their logbook sign-offs. The role calls for a broad mix of technical skill, experience and personal qualities to handle changing priorities in an autonomous fashion.
- →Deliver training using a variety of instructional techniques, training aids and hands-on practicals
- →Develop, deliver and revise courseware for theoretical and practical aircraft systems instruction in compliance with Transport Canada guidelines, other regulatory agencies and customer requirements
- →Develop, deliver and revise exams for theoretical and practical aircraft instruction under areas of expertise, following applicable Transport Canada or other certification authority guidelines
- →Support Production Resourcing with apprentice rotation and logbook sign-offs, manage labour fluctuations and ensure crew capabilities are adequate
- →Assist with probationary and annual performance reviews
- →Assist with the creation and monitoring of department KPIs
- →Provide coaching and mentoring to Crew Leads and help oversee assigned apprentices
- →Monitor jobs and help coordinate task assignments
- →Develop action items based on Onboarding Survey and Exit Interview data
- →Act in a manner that reflects company policies and procedures including culture and values, respectful workplace, health and safety, attendance and security
Requirements
~1 min read- AME E licence (Certification Authority within the scope of trade)
- Background instructing and developing courseware
- Familiarity with Transport Canada Regulations (CARs), Technical Airworthiness Manual (TAM), Quality Control Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and maintenance, manufacturing and policy manuals
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with a constructive coaching style
- Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Eligibility for immediate Controlled Goods Program (CGP) clearance, so only Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents can be considered at this time
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering approved by TCCA or the applicable governing body
- Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent
- 5 to 10 years of technical experience performing heavy maintenance on a variety of transport category aircraft
- Experience with aircraft certification authorities
- CC130 B-H and J aircraft DND or military experience
