The Clinical Specialist - Physical Therapy is an advanced level clinician, who evaluates and treats patients referred for physical therapy. This individual leads program development, mentors/trains and may supervise less experienced physical therapists, participates in research, manages the student program, monitors regulatory requirements related to the profession and performs in a lead capacity.
1. Performs initial evaluations, establishes approximate goals, plans and implements treatment interventions, performs timely re-evaluations and modifies goals and treatment intervention accordingly. Coordinates with other disciplines when indicated.
2. Evaluates physical therapy test results and medical or background information to determine level of impairment and treatment. Counsels and instructs patients concerning functional impairments and movement disorders.
3. Provides patients, families and caregivers with ongoing counseling and education to facilitate mobility.
4. Responsible for program development with the Program Director/Manager.
5. Conducts in-service training programs for rehabilitation staff and mentors/trains less experienced PT staff.
6. Responsible for all documentation requirements in a timely manner and monitors regulatory requirements. Maintains and works with authorization team to monitor and maintain authorizations for patients receiving physical therapy services.
7. Serves as the Coordinator of Continuing Education (CCE) for the department and participates in all student requirements and training. Oversees all the needs of the department related to our student program.
8. Participates in conferences or trainings to update or share knowledge with physical therapy staff.
9. Participates in research projects specific to the service provided.
10. Acts on behalf of the Director when not available. Assists the Manager/Practice Manager as needed with orientation and staffing. Demonstrates leadership responsibility.
11. Performs other related duties as needed.
- Bachelors degree, Doctoral degree preferred (DPT)
- 5 plus years of related experience
- Preferred to have advanced certification from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ie NCS)

The salary range for the role is $83,273.32 - $124,909.98 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
