The Communications Manager will work with the University Health and Wellbeing Counseling and Psychological, Employee Assistance Program, and Center for Survivors teams to promote and protect department reputation. Develop and execute wellbeing promoting communication strategies, campaigns, publications, and other materials for campaigns, programs, services, initiatives, and events.
Conduct research, interviews, and gather information to create, edit, and produce a range of communication materials, including news releases, social media posts, newsletters, emails, talking points, promotional pieces, reports, etc., for both print and electronic media, targeting specific audiences. Partner with communication colleagues to guide development of audio, videos, graphics, etc., ensuring accessibility, content accuracy, readability, and alignment with established style guidelines.
Stay informed about news and trends related to the field, monitoring various publications and electronic sources for information relevant to the department's activities. Occasionally represent UHW and/or present to targeted audiences at events, professional organizations, industry gatherings, and community functions to enhance the unit's visibility and engagement.
Requirements
~1 min readKnowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Communications, Journalism, Telecommunications, or Public Relations; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in public and media relations, composing, editing and publication production, news, broadcasting, and print media, and/or marketing, advertising, and creative services; graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation; spreadsheet and/or database software; public presentation; or radio production; or computer programming/technology; experience managing content for social media channels; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in internal and/or external communications; news, broadcasting, and print media, and/or marketing, advertising, and creative services. Experience in health and wellbeing or public health communications, with an emphasis on mental health, preferred.
