The registered nurse is responsible for the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's status, plan of care, and goal achievement. The perfect candidate is expected to uphold the most ethical and safe processes while keeping the care of the patient as a top priority. The position works closely with the entire multidisciplinary team and provides safe, effective, and culturally competent patient care in accordance with the organizational policies and procedures.
- Provides direct nursing care to patients and assists health care provider with medical procedures.
- Interviews patients and triages telephone calls in order to determine and assess patients' health care needs; develops plan of care or refers as necessary.
- Administers medications and performs patient procedures.
- Serves as an advocate and provides instruction and counseling to patients and their families.
- Documents nursing actions in patients' records in order to provide accurate medical records for future reference and accountability.
- Reviews laboratory results and initiates appropriate actions and communicate results with patients, physicians and others as appropriate.
- Orders supplies and equipment in order to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Performs necessary related activities in order to maintain clinic operations.
- Assists in setting and evaluating nursing care standards.
- Attends conferences, staff development programs and workshops.
- Assists in developing protocols for carrying out health care provider orders.
- Coordinates services for patients utilizing other human service related agencies and resources; follows up on health care of patients.
Requirements
~1 min readKnowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Nursing; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in Nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position also requires possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing and/or work experience in a particular area of nursing or health care.
Previous experience in a Surgical or Specialty clinic.

Work hours are typically 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM but may vary as necessary to accommodate clinic operations.

The job requires significant physical effort and involves lifting and maneuvering patients, extensive walking and standing and fine manual dexterity 26-75% of the time; visual and aural acuity necessary to monitor patient care.
Exposure to human blood, serum, and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions; TB risk or work within three (3) feet of patients in a health care setting; wear a respirator.
