This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

This position assists in advancing career development and professional opportunities for students throughout the college. This role focuses on cultivating strategic partnerships with employers, delivering personalized career advising, and supporting students’ academic and professional growth. The Aide will also provide event support.

The position reports to the Director of Employer Engagement, The Center – Experience Engineering Careers, College of Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing strategic partnerships with employers across private, public, and nonprofit sectors to increase career opportunities for undergraduate students.
  • Act as a university representative for employer engagement, cultivating relationships that align with the goals of the Program.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of high-impact events, such as recruitment fairs, alumni networking sessions, and employer-led workshops, ensuring a seamless experience for students and stakeholders.
  • Support marketing strategies tailored to regional and national employers, promoting The Canter and its participants.
  • Provide consultation to employers on effective campus branding and recruitment strategies within the program framework.
  • Regularly assess employer needs and adapt outreach strategies to ensure our program remains competitive and impactful.
  • Serve as a career advisor for select students, offering personalized guidance on career exploration and professional development.
  • Assist with career preparation and professional development events, such as mock interviews, resume reviews, and networking, to help prepare students for the job market and workforce.
  • Deliver one-on-one and group advising sessions tailored to the unique needs and aspirations of our students.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic staff to integrate career readiness programming into the curriculum, ensuring alignment with academic objectives.
  • Assist in generating data-centered and quarterly reports on Center activities and outcomes in alignment with Program goals.
  • As a part-time team member within The Center, the role will provide both event and technical support and coordination as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education, business administration, student affairs, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in career services, academic advising, or employer relations, with demonstrated success in program development and employer engagement.
  • Strong communication skills, including written, oral, and presentation abilities.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including employers, students, and faculty.
  • Proficiency with career services platforms such as Handshake, CRM systems, and virtual career tools.
  • Proficiency with reporting using tools such as Excel and other associated data analysis applications.

The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in fostering employer relationships, delivering impactful career services, and enhancing the professional success of our Spartan Engineers.

 

 

  • Experience managing career programming, such as Career Fairs and Mentoring activities.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development, experiential education, and student recruitment programs.
  • Technical expertise in database management, social media, and event promotion.
  • Willingness to travel and work non-traditional hours as required.
