Project Metallurgist (East Tennessee Mines)

The purpose of this role is to provide metallurgical support to the zinc mines located in Strawberry Plains in Tennessee. Work with operations department in optimizing operation of the plants reducing costs, maximizing recovery through personal development and operating strategies. Utilize data and results from various studies and balances to determine metallurgical accounting and implement process improvements.

Function/ Production:

• Maintain regular accurate metallurgical accounting.
• Monitor circuit performance determining improvement strategy through plant and lab test work.
  • Circuit studies, mass balances.
  • Circuit optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Regular reporting such as daily, weekly and monthly.
• Provide technical support to the metallurgy and operations department aiding and leading direction of plant operating philosophy for both people and equipment.
• Various specific projects involving metallurgical input some of which are listed below.
  • On Stream Analyzer commissioning and operation.
  • Optimization of grinding circuit upgrades involving grinding circuit studies.
  • Optimization of flotation circuit and required changes.
• Reagent optimization involving dosing requirements, dosing points, appropriate use of specific chemicals.
• Development of metallurgical procedures for both operations team and metallurgy department.
• Maintain high level of accuracy in plant scales.
• Interact with other departments, e.g. mining, technical services, environmental, safety, to move toward a common goal.
• Provide technical guidance and assistance to aid, coach and develop the metallurgical knowledge throughout the milling department.
  • Improve knowledge of the ore requirements to optimize recovery and to share learnings with operating team.
  • Improve knowledge of reagent requirements and dosing.
  • Improve knowledge of equipment requirements and function.

Essential:

• Degree in Metallurgical Engineering.
• Minimum of one year experience.
