As a Veterinary Assistant, you play an important role in supporting patient care, assisting veterinarians and technicians, and helping every visit feel organized, attentive, and welcoming. Combining compassion, attention to detail, and a genuine appreciation for the human-animal bond, your work helps create positive experiences for clients while supporting the health and well-being of every patient. Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Safe and compassionate patient care by assisting veterinarians and technicians with examinations, treatments, patient handling, restraint, and daily clinical support activities
- →A low-stress environment for pets by safely restraining patients, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment, and supporting animal comfort throughout examinations and procedures
- →Well-prepared medical and surgical procedures through the organization of treatment areas, preparation of surgery packs, equipment setup, and readiness of clinical supplies
- →Reliable patient monitoring by assisting with anesthesia observation and supporting patient safety during medical and surgical procedures
- →Accurate medical information through the organization of records, documentation support, patient history verification, and effective communication among the veterinary team
- →Informed and confident pet owners through compassionate communication, client triage, patient intake, educational support, and clear coordination of care
- →A clean, organized, and compliant hospital environment by maintaining workspaces, equipment, supplies, and cleanliness standards while following OSHA and AVMA guidelines
- →Continuous clinical improvement through ongoing learning, adherence to veterinary protocols, and commitment to evolving standards of patient care
- A hands-on clinical environment working closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, patients, and pet owners
- Daily exposure to examinations, diagnostics, treatments, surgery preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and patient-care activities
- Opportunities to develop practical veterinary skills and gain experience across multiple areas of hospital operations
- Meaningful interaction with clients seeking guidance, education, and support for their pets
- A physically active role requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, lifting, and patient handling throughout the workday
- Exposure to a variety of clinical environments, including animals requiring restraint, medical treatments, anesthesia, and specialized care

Requirements
~1 min read- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Zero to four years of related veterinary, animal care, kennel, pet-care, or clinical support experience
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to work with veterinary software and electronic records
- Ability to safely handle and restrain cats and dogs using appropriate techniques and personal protective equipment
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and assist with heavier patients when needed
- Ability to work around animals that may bite, scratch, or require special handling precautions
- Ability to work in environments involving anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, medications, and controlled substances
- Ability to follow OSHA, AVMA, hospital, and safety protocols
