About the Role

~1 min read

Great campaigns don't run themselves - they run because someone behind the scenes makes sure every impression lands where it should. As our Ad Operations Specialist, you'll own campaign execution end-to-end: trafficking, QA, delivery monitoring, optimization, and reporting across display, video, and programmatic inventory. You'll be the connective tissue between sales, account management, product, and engineering, and your work will directly protect and grow revenue. If you love clean data, smooth launches, and finding the "why" behind a delivery issue before anyone else notices, you'll thrive here.

Responsibilities

~2 min read
  • Own Technical troubleshooting and debugging on ads
  • Own end-to-end campaign management in Google Ad Manager (GAM) - trafficking, QA, monitoring, and troubleshooting for both direct-sold and programmatic campaigns, ensuring flawless, on-time delivery
  • Set up and manage programmatic deals (PMPs, Programmatic Guaranteed, Preferred Deals), including deal ID troubleshooting with buyers, DSPs, and SSP partners
  • Protect the reader experience and our premium news environment through frequency capping, viewability benchmarks, brand safety enforcement, and creative quality control
  • Partner with sales and account management as the go-to technical resource - supporting RFPs, capability questions, campaign scoping, and final wrap reports
  • Use AI-assisted tools to streamline trafficking, QA, and reporting workflows
  • Build and maintain documentation that makes trafficking workflows, campaign setup, and reporting repeatable and scalable

What You'll Bring

  • A proactive, detail-obsessed approach: you catch problems before they become fires
  • Clear communication and the instincts to work cross-functionally in a fast-moving newsroom-adjacent environment
  • Strong analytical chops - fluent in Excel/Google Sheets and comfortable turning messy delivery data into a clear story
  • Experience executing and troubleshooting programmatic deal types (PMP, PG, Preferred)
  • 3–5 years in ad operations or digital advertising on the publisher side (news or premium content experience a big plus)
  • Experience with SSPs, DSPs, and programmatic platforms like Assertive Yield; FreeStar is a plus

Nice to Have

  • BI tools like Looker or Tableau
  • Video ad ops experience (VAST tag troubleshooting, video header bidding)
  • Familiarity with creative quality/malvertising tools (Confiant, GeoEdge)
  • Experience supporting healthcare/pharma advertisers or other regulated verticals
  • Forecasting and inventory management experience
  • Google Ad Manager or IAB certification
