The Furniture & Appliance Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, sales performance, merchandising, inventory management, and customer service functions of the Furniture and Appliance Department. This position ensures the department is properly stocked, merchandised, and maintained to achieve sales and profitability goals while providing an exceptional customer experience. The Department Manager serves as a product expert and ensures furniture and appliance displays are assembled, maintained, and presented according to company standards.
Responsibilities

- →Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Drives department sales through outstanding customer service and product knowledge.
- Assists customers with selecting furniture and appliance products that best meet their needs.
- Resolves customer concerns and service issues promptly and professionally.
- Monitors sales trends and implements strategies to achieve department sales goals.
- Promotes financing, delivery, extended protection plans, and other value-added services when applicable.
- Maintains attractive, clean, and organized department displays.
- Ensures merchandise is properly priced, signed, and presented according to company standards.
- Monitors inventory levels and place orders to maintain in-stock conditions.
- Manages product receiving, transfers, and inventory accuracy.
- Conducts regular inventory counts and assist with annual physical inventories.
- Identifies and addresses slow-moving or obsolete inventory.
- Sets up, assembles, and displays furniture according to manufacturer and company standards.
- Assists with appliance setup, display preparation, and floor presentation.
- Ensures assembled furniture and appliance displays are safe, functional, clean, and customer-ready.
- Rearranges department layouts and displays as needed to support promotional events and seasonal merchandise changes.
- Coordinates appliance deliveries and customer special orders.
- Ensures compliance with all safety regulations and company procedures.
- Monitors department expenses and work to improve profitability.
- Maintains accurate department records and reports.
- Assists with unloading, moving, and stocking furniture and appliances.
- Verifies products received are free from damage and report any discrepancies.
- Supports store-wide initiatives and assist other departments as needed.

- 1-2 years retail sales experience preferably in Appliances and/or Furniture
- Knowledge of major appliance brands and product features preferred
- Comfortable using Point of Sale (POS) systems and basic computer applications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Speak effectively before groups of customers or Associates of organization.
- Basic math concepts (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, percentages and sales per associate hour)

PAY RANGE (depends on industry experience)
$684 - $1,100/week plus Commission (IL & MN Locations Only)
Starting pay will be based on experience, internal equity, and scope of responsibility.
