About the team and what we do
The Sensitive and Complex Casework Team is a specialist unit within the Fitness to Practise (FtP) directorate. Its purpose is to handle high-risk, high-profile, or legally complicated cases, providing specialised legal advice and direct investigative support to speed up decision-making and ensure consistency.

You'll be joining at an exciting time, where the team is currently expanding.

Your role and impact

You will be responsible for the assessment of allegations of impairment of fitness to practise matters, in the most serious and complex cases. As well as initial assessment, you will responsible for advising on risk, evidence and the need for an interim order. You will also be responsible for initial case progression on high profile, complex, multi registrant matters and, on occasion, carrying out a full investigation.

You will act as a point of contact for key stakeholders, both internal and external.

You will be required to support the lawyers in the team and work collaboratively with other departments.

What you’ll bring

You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, able to adapt quickly, and confident handling fast‑moving cases that require precision, sound judgement, and clear justification for decisions. Your communication skills will allow you to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including legal colleagues, internal teams, and external partners.

You will be able to explain complex issues clearly, manage expectations, and build productive working relationships across the organisation.
A collaborative approach is essential. You will work closely with specialist lawyers and operational teams, contributing to a consistent, high‑quality approach to fitness to practise casework. You will bring professionalism, discretion, and an understanding of how to navigate sensitive or high‑profile matters with care.

Above all, you will bring curiosity, resilience, and a commitment to learning—playing an active role in a growing team that values continuous improvement and delivering high‑quality outcomes
