About the team and what we do

You will support an exceptionally organised and detail-focused Chair, who appreciates structure, well-prepared briefings, and a proactive approach.

You will sit within the Private Office / governance function, working closely with the Chair, Chief Executive, Chief of Staff and Assistant Director of Governance, reporting into the Private Secretary in the Private Office.

The Private Office also includes the Chair, Chief Executive and Registrar (CER), Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Special Advisor, Private Secretary and EA to the CER.

This team operates at the centre of the NMC, ensuring that Council and committee business runs seamlessly, decisions are well-documented, and governance processes are robust, compliant and forward-looking.

Your role and impact

We enable strong governance and leadership across the organisation by supporting high-quality decision-making, transparent processes and effective stakeholder engagement.

Our work ensures that:

  • Senior leaders are fully briefed, prepared and supported
  • Decisions, risks and actions are clearly tracked and progressed
  • Stakeholders receive timely, professional and well-managed communications

What you’ll bring
  • You will be a highly organised, proactive and calm Executive Assistant with experience supporting senior leaders in complex environments.
  • Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage complex diaries, competing demands and forward planning
  • Sound judgement and political awareness, particularly when handling sensitive or confidential matters within a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Strong communication skills, including drafting high-quality correspondence and engaging confidently with senior stakeholders across government and partner organisations
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all documents, briefings and records are accurate and professionally presented
  • Stakeholder management expertise, building effective relationships across internal teams and external networks, including government and partner organisations
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach, anticipating needs and ensuring actions and commitments are tracked through to delivery
  • Strong governance awareness, with the ability to support structured processes, compliance requirements and assurance activities

Please note the role will be hybrid, office-based 3 or 4 days per week from our office in Oxford Circus. Regular hours are 8am – 6pm.
