As a member of the Development Department, the Manager, Institutional Giving and Government Affairs is responsible for managing a robust foundation and government fundraising portfolio, administrative duties relevant to foundation and government fundraising efforts, and generating grant awards with the support and guidance of the Director of Institutional Development and Chief Development Officer.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree a plus. Degrees in arts administration, arts education, art history, or museum studies preferred; English, journalism, or other disciplines with a heavy focus on writing also given very strong consideration.
- Four to six years’ development experience, preferably with a cultural institution. Exhibition fundraising experience preferable.
- Superior writing skills, adherence to very high standards for presentation of proposal/report materials; consistent attention to detail; excellent organizational skills; and ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with local, regional, and national foundation and government funding sources.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, set goals, and develop effective strategies for meeting those goals.
- Ability to work collaboratively and form solid relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Equally adept with identification, cultivation, written solicitation, and stewardship of foundation and government donors.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and SalesForce required.
Responsibilities

- →With the support and guidance of the Director of Institutional Development, manage a six to seven-figure portfolio of foundation and government donors and prospects with the goal of maintaining and increasing existing levels of giving and generating new sources of support.
- →Keep apprised of the Guggenheim’s activities and match those activities with foundation and government grant opportunities, focusing in particular on exhibitions, conservation, public programming, education and special initiatives. Assist with requests for special projects and other fundraising efforts as relevant/assigned.
- →Conduct prospect identification, research, and analysis; prepare and submit proposals and reports and research briefings for meetings; provide effective and ongoing stewardship of current donors and cultivation of prospective donors.
- →Provide Administrative support for the team, including maintaining Institutional donor records in SalesForce database and central files; create opportunities and new donor records in SalesForce, track grant moves management in SalesForce, enter pledge and gift information in SalesForce, track reporting deadlines and grant deliverables, process gifts and facilitate the generation of acknowledgement letters.
- →Maintain team calendar, schedule meetings internally and externally, process team expense reimbursement; create briefs for funder site visits, and manange the facilitation and internal document submission required prior to donor tours to the museum.
- →Work collaboratively as a key member of the Institutional Development team and as part of the wider Development Department. Maintain strong working relationships with staff across Guggenheim departments, working particularly closely with the Curatorial, Education, Conservation, as well as Legal, Finance, Global Communications, and Publications.
- →Liaise with program staff from foundations and representatives from government agencies.
- →Represent the Guggenheim at internal and external meetings, as well as site visits, exhibition openings, and other events/receptions.
- →Reconcile departmental tracking spreadsheets in preparation of budget and expense reports.
- Ability to travel within the metropolitan area as required to perform the above duties at any of the Guggenheim's owned or leased properties upon request.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays on occasion.

WORK SCHEDULE: Hybrid eligible, and hours vary based on position
POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Exempt, This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with Local 2110 UAW.
SALARY RANGE: $68,958.50 - $75,000 Annually
