The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) is an umbrella policy and advocacy organization for nearly 200 groups in New York State. We envision a New York state that is stronger because all people are welcome, treated fairly, and given the chance to pursue their dreams. Our mission is to unite immigrants, members, & allies so all New Yorkers can thrive. We represent the collective interests of New York's diverse immigrant communities and organizations and devise solutions to advance them; advocate for laws, policies, and programs that lead to justice and opportunity for all immigrant groups; and build the power of immigrants and the organizations that serve them to ensure their sustainability, to improve people's lives, and to strengthen our state.

Our organizational values: Inclusive & Representative; Fair & Just; Accountable & Trusted.

Ensuring a fair and accurate Census count each ten years requires substantial planning and investment. Given the grave concerns and incredible opportunities with the 2020 Census, a number of organizations came together in 2018 to form New York Counts. New York Counts is a one-of-a-kind coalition - composed of more than 110 racial justice, immigrant, religious, health, education, labor, housing, social services, and business groups representing the diversity of NYC, as well as state and local government officials and foundations - working to ensure that New Yorkers are properly counted by and served by the census. The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) serves as the convener of the New York State Census Partnership and New York Counts.

The NYIC Census Strategist will play a key leadership role in the organization’s work on the 2030 Census. The position is time-limited through the 2030 Census and contingent on continued funding. The work will include significant work with internal staff and external coalition members and stakeholders to handle complex dynamics, manage project tasks across different work areas, and help us navigate a fluid political landscape.
