The City of O'Fallon is seeking a Recreation Specialist – Office and Memberships to join our Parks and Recreation team. This position plays an important role in supporting recreation programming, managing memberships, coordinating administrative functions, and providing excellent customer service to the community.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, customer-focused, and enjoys working in a fast-paced recreation environment.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Plan, develop, coordinate, and supervise a variety of recreation activities and programs.
- →Manage Renaud Center memberships, including customer assistance and membership-related services.
- →Serve as Manager on Duty at the recreation complex, providing staff support, customer service, facility oversight, tours, and issue resolution.
- →Hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and supervise part-time recreation staff.
- →Respond to customer questions, complaints, and concerns and provide appropriate solutions.
- →Manage program budgets, including revenue forecasting, cost recovery, purchasing, and expenditures.
- →Research information, gather data, maintain records, and prepare department reports.
- →Manage department files, databases, and program participant information.
- →Coordinate and oversee the department-wide use of RecTrac.
- →Coordinate with City departments, community organizations, schools, and outside service providers.
- →Prepare and distribute program manuals, rules, announcements, flyers, correspondence, and reports.
- →Develop bids for program-related purchases and assist with capital equipment bids as needed.
- →Coordinate special event permits for park usage.
- →Support Parks and Recreation Board meetings by preparing agendas and recording minutes.
- →Assist with department employee-related activities, including personnel files, evaluations, PAFs, payroll, and disciplinary documentation.
- →Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- One to three years of related experience, such as an internship, apprenticeship, or similar position.
- Valid Missouri driver's license, or the ability to obtain one.
- CPR certification, or the ability to obtain certification.
- Experience with purchasing and budgeting preferred.
- Certified Parks and Recreation professional preferred.
Knowledge of:
- Recreation program development and implementation.
- Supervisory principles and practices.
- Recreation facilities and equipment.
- City policies and procedures, including purchasing and budgeting.
Skills in:
- Supervising and working effectively with staff.
- Customer service and problem resolution.
- Organization, communication, and recordkeeping.
- Using computers and standard office equipment.
