About the Role
~1 min readJoin Oklahoma State University's Department of Wellness as a leader within Competitive Sports. This position oversees Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, and Youth Programs, serving thousands of participants annually through engaging recreational experiences. The successful candidate will provide strategic program leadership, mentor student staff and graduate assistants, manage risk and safety initiatives, and build strong partnerships across campus.
Key responsibilities include administering sport club operations, managing budgets and travel processes, coordinating leagues, tournaments, and events, supervising and developing student employees, and ensuring safe and effective program delivery. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape student experiences, cultivate student leaders, and contribute to a vibrant campus community dedicated to wellness and engagement.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's Leisure Studies, Recreation Management, or related field (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

One year of professional experience administering or assisting with a competitive sports program.
A two-year Graduate Assistantship will be considered one year of professional experience.
Additional post-secondary education beyond requirements may substitute for years of required experience.

Minimum 2 years of experience working in the administration of a college competitive sports (intramural & club sports) program. Experience working with children in a summer camp setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, familiar with league scheduling software and related staff training. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong commitment to teamwork. Ability to lift/move 50 lbs occasionally.
Prefer candidate with a working knowledge of league scheduling software IMLeagues, computer tracking of game results and member eligibility. Certified high school or college official in at least one or more of the following sports (football, basketball, soccer, softball, or volleyball). Demonstrated background in the training of sports officials and knowledge of NIRSA sport rules. NIRSA member and experience with extramural events. Knowledge of working with children in a summer camp setting.
