In this role, you are responsible for owning and professionalising Opora’s financial processes, while working closely with the CEO, HR Manager, and project managers. You ensure that the financial administration is accurate and compliant, that project reporting meets subsidy and audit requirements, and that management has reliable financial insights for decision-making.
You will work alongside a bookkeeper who handles day-to-day transaction processing. You oversee, review, and back up this work, while taking ownership of reporting, controls, VAT, audits, and financial planning.
Responsibilities
~1 min readOversee the day-to-day financial administration and ensure accuracy and completeness.
Review and perform monthly closings, reconciliations, and financial checks.
Supervise and support the bookkeeper; act as backup when needed.
Ensure purchase, payment, and expense procedures comply with internal policies and audit requirements.
Set up, professionalise, and maintain project financial reporting formats.
Prepare and review periodic financial project reports for management, funders, and ministries.
Act as the primary financial contact for project audits and subsidy-related financial reviews.
Support project managers in understanding budgets, costs, and financial risks.
Prepare and submit VAT returns and ensure correct VAT treatment.
Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Review and sanity-check annual financial statements and manage the compilation process.
Coordinate and liaise with external auditors and accountants.
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow forecasts, and actively monitor liquidity.
Act as a financial sparring partner for senior management.
Provide financial analyses to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Requirements
~1 min readBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3–7 years of relevant experience in finance or project control.
Solid knowledge of bookkeeping, financial reporting, and VAT.
Experience with Exact (or similar accounting software).
Strong Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, structured reporting).
Experience in a non-profit is a strong plus.
Comfortable working in a growing organisation with evolving processes.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Clear communicator, able to explain financial matters to non-financial colleagues.
Fluent in English.
