Position Summary
The Director / Senior Safety Manager – Solar Service is responsible for developing, standardizing, and governing Otovo’s safety programs across the U.S. and Europe. This leader will drive safety integration during acquisitions, elevate field safety standards for rooftop solar and electrical service work, and ensure compliance with U.S., EU, and country-specific requirements. The role partners closely with regional operations and installer partners to embed a consistent, data-driven, and people-focused safety culture across all Otovo markets. This position has authority to escalate hazards and recommend stop-work when conditions present unacceptable risk.

Standardize safety programs across all Otovo operating regions
Integrate newly acquired companies into a unified safety framework
Reduce incident rates while supporting rapid operational scaling
Ensure compliance with OSHA (U.S.), EU directives, and country-specific regulations
Strengthen Otovo’s safety culture across employees, partners, and subcontractors
Key Responsibilities
Global Safety Strategy & Governance
Develop and implement Otovo’s global safety strategy aligned with marketplace operations.
Establish a unified Safety Management System (SMS) across U.S. and European markets.
Ensure compliance with OSHA (U.S.), EU directives, and applicable national regulatory bodies across all regions.
Define global safety KPIs, audit processes, and reporting standards.
Post-Merger Safety Integration
Lead safety due diligence during acquisitions and market expansions.
Build and execute Day 1 / Day 30 / Day 90 integration plans.
Standardize policies, training, documentation, and reporting systems across acquired entities.
Identify high-risk practices and implement corrective action plans.
Field Operations Safety
Oversee safety programs for rooftop solar service, electrical troubleshooting, and battery/energy storage systems.
Standardize fall protection, LOTO, arc flash, and electrical safety programs across all installer networks.
Ensure PPE compliance and consistent enforcement across regions.
Support field audits, site inspections, and installer qualification processes.
Training & Competency Development
Develop a global training matrix for employees, installers, and subcontractors.
Ensure compliance with OSHA (U.S.), EU directives, and country-specific training requirements.
Implement onboarding, annual, and role-specific training programs.
Partner with Operations, HR, and Installer Management to validate competency.
Incident Management & Analytics
Standardize incident reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis.
Track TRIR, LTIR, and EU equivalents to identify trends and drive improvements.
Use data to inform corrective actions, risk mitigation, and leadership decision-making.
Fleet & Driver Safety
Implement global driver and fleet safety programs for service teams.
Monitor telematics and enforce driver standards to reduce vehicle incidents.
Subcontractor & Installer Safety
Standardize onboarding, qualification, and compliance requirements for installers.
Ensure subcontractors meet Otovo’s safety standards and local regulatory requirements.
Support continuous improvement across Otovo’s distributed installer network.
Safety Culture & Change Management
Lead cultural integration efforts during acquisitions and new market launches.
Conduct leadership safety training, toolbox talks, and field engagement visits.
Promote accountability, proactive reporting, and a customer-first safety mindset.
What Success Looks Like
Reduction in TRIR / LTIR and other key safety metrics.
Successful 90-day integration of acquired companies.
Training compliance maintained at 95%+.
Strong safety culture adoption across all regions.
Reduced vehicle incidents and workers’ compensation costs.
Clear, consistent reporting and communication across global teams.
Working Conditions
Hybrid role with 25–50% travel across the U.S. and Europe.
Field visits to rooftops, electrical systems, and active job sites.
Work performed in varying weather conditions and environments.
Requires ability to conduct site audits, climb ladders, and assess field operations.
Reporting Structure
Reports to: COO or VP of Operations
Works closely with: Operations, HR, M&A, Installer Management, Fleet, Field Service
Compensation & Benefits
$120,000 – $130,000+ base salary (based on experience, certifications, and performance)

Qualifications
7–12+ years of progressive safety leadership experience.
Background in solar, construction, utilities, or field services.
Experience working across multiple countries or regions preferred.
Demonstrated success leading safety programs during organizational growth or M&A.
Strong understanding of both U.S. and European safety regulations.
Certifications
CSP or equivalent (preferred)
OSHA 30 (required)
NEBOSH or EU equivalent (preferred)
