Laboratory Medical Director/Pathologist

PathGroup is seeking an AP/CP Board-Certified Pathologist to serve as Laboratory Medical Director at a thriving hospital-based practice in one of the fastest-growing communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. This full-time leadership opportunity combines diagnostic surgical pathology with medical oversight of laboratory operations, quality initiatives, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with hospital leadership.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative physician with strong communication skills and a commitment to high-quality patient care. Candidates with breast pathology experience are encouraged to apply. This is also an excellent opportunity for a general surgical pathologist interested in expanding their breast pathology experience through collaboration with nationally recognized experts.

• Laboratory Medical Director role with oversight of pathology and clinical laboratory services

• Daily frozen section coverage with minimal cytology volume

• Minimal call and weekend responsibilities due to a predominantly elective surgical case mix

• Off-site histology and cytology services, allowing pathologists to focus on diagnostic sign-out

• No autopsy requirement

• →Serve as Laboratory Medical Director for hospital pathology and laboratory services
• →Provide medical oversight for laboratory operations and regulatory compliance
• →Support laboratory quality assurance, accreditation, and continuous improvement initiatives
• →Participate in hospital leadership meetings and multidisciplinary committees

• →MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• →AP/CP Board Certification required
• →Eligible for unrestricted Texas medical licensure
• →Prior Medical Director or laboratory leadership experience preferred
• →Excellent diagnostic, communication, and leadership skills
