The Managing Producer oversees all aspects of IndieWire’s video production across sponsored, editorial, social, event, and studio content from concept through final delivery. This role works closely with Editorial, Sales, Marketing, Social, Events, podcasts and outside partners to produce high-quality video content while maintaining IndieWire’s editorial voice and production standards.

 

This position also oversees IndieWire’s social video strategy and works closely with the Social team to ensure video content is optimized for platform performance, audience growth, and brand consistency across all social channels.

The ideal candidate is an experienced producer who communicates well, stays organized, works collaboratively across teams, and can successfully manage multiple productions at the same time. They should also be comfortable stepping in to support productions hands on when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of video production from development through final delivery across sponsored, editorial, social, and event content.
  • Oversee IndieWire’s social video strategy and partner with the Social team to develop, prioritize, and optimize video content across all social platforms.
  • Manage multiple video and audio productions at once while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with IndieWire’s editorial standards and brand.
  • Work closely with Editorial, Sales, Marketing, Social, Events, and clients to execute high quality sponsored and editorial video projects.
  • Build strong relationships across departments through clear communication, organization, and collaboration.
  • Communicate effectively with producers, editors, freelancers, executives, clients, and stakeholders by providing clear direction, creative feedback, timelines, and project updates.
  • Oversee live productions, studio shoots, junkets, festivals, press tours, red carpets, podcasts and special events, including staffing, logistics, budgets, and overall production.
  • Source, hire, and manage freelance editors, cinematographers, producers, motion graphics artists, photographers, sound mixers, and production crews.
  • Oversee post production workflows to ensure quality, consistency, and deadlines are met.
  • Perform basic editing, revisions, exports, and quality control in Adobe Premiere Pro when needed to help keep projects moving.
  • Review edits and provide clear and constructive feedback to editors.
  • Help establish production workflows and processes that improve communication, organization, and efficiency across teams.
  • Support the development and execution of sponsored content while maintaining IndieWire’s editorial voice and production quality.
  • Collaborate with leadership on new video franchises, creative concepts, and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Help develop distribution strategies across YouTube, all social platforms, and IndieWire owned channels using audience insights and performance data.
  • Manage production budgets, vendor contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and freelancer payments.
  • Maintain a strong network of freelance production professionals and creative vendors.
  • Stay current on entertainment industry trends, production technology, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Travel as needed to oversee productions, festivals, interviews, and live events.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience producing, editing, and managing high end digital video and multi camera productions.
  • Strong background in digital media, social media entertainment, branded content, and editorial video production.
  • Experience managing projects from concept through final delivery while balancing multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams, manage competing priorities, and build strong working relationships with Editorial, Sales, Marketing, Social, Production, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail and the ability to keep multiple stakeholders informed throughout every stage of production.
  • Experience managing freelance crews, vendors, editors, and production budgets.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, including the ability to perform basic edits, revisions, exports, and quality control when needed.
  • Experience reviewing edits and providing clear, constructive feedback to editors and post production teams.
  • Experience running camera and filming single camera productions, including camera operation, lighting setup, and professional audio capture, is preferred.
  • Experience producing studio interviews, location shoots, festivals, press panels, live events, and red carpet coverage is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Media Encoder.
  • Experience developing video distribution strategies across YouTube, social platforms, and owned platforms.
  • Knowledge of analytics and performance metrics to help grow audience engagement.
  • Strong network of freelance production professionals, including videographers, editors, producers, photographers, motion graphics artists, and audio technicians.
  • Passion for television, film, and the entertainment industry.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

 

Typical wage $105,000 - $120,000. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k). PMC is committed to the health and wellness of our employees.
