This is an excellent hybrid opportunity for an Executive Black Constituency Advisor (40 hours/week) at our Administration Offices in Milwaukee, WI and remote.

PPWI’s compensation philosophy is rooted in equity. Starting offers are determined by both the candidate’s applicable experience and internal equity. The Executive Black Constituency Advisor pay starts from $87,000 annually.
 
Additional $1.50 per hour for bilingual (English/Spanish)
 

The Executive Black Constituency Advisor is a senior member of the Executive Office responsible for listening, identifying, cultivating, developing, strengthening, and stewarding PPWI’s relationships with key stakeholders, leaders, and institutions across Wisconsin’s Black communities, in service to PPWI’s commitment to health equity. This role ensures that community-defined priorities, perspectives, and expertise meaningfully inform PPWI’s policy, political, and programmatic strategies.

  • Must support the mission of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and be committed to a culture of collaboration and excellent customer service.
  • Must have a demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. 
  • Thorough knowledge of Wisconsin’s diverse Black communities, including political, civic, faith-based, and grassroots leadership networks.
  • Existing relationships or a proven track record of building trust with Black community leaders, elected officials, business owners, clergy, and community-based organizations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the tenets of reproductive justice and health equity.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate the intersections of racial equity, reproductive healthcare, reproductive rights, public policy, and community impact.
  • Demonstrated experience working within policy, politics, community organizing, or advocacy spaces connected to Black communities, including a history of experience translating complex political or policy issues for diverse audiences.
  • Experience navigating complex community and political environments with discretion, cultural humility, and integrity.
  • Proven ability to lead relationship-driven strategies that influence policy, public engagement, or program design.
  • Demonstrated success in convening coalitions and facilitating cross-sector collaboration.
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Community Engagement and Education, Social Work, Public Policy, Community Organizing, Political Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in community engagement, political strategy, government relations, advocacy, public policy, or related work with Black communities.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

 

Requirements

  • Inform the development and advancement of executive-level strategies for statewide engagement with Black communities in alignment with PPWI priorities across the organization.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and Chief of Staff, supporting the integration of Black community insights into PPWI’s strategic priorities.
  • Work in partnership with executive leadership to ensure organizational strategies reflect the tenets of reproductive justice and are culturally grounded, community-driven, and equity-focused
  • Plan, develop and lead through implementation the executive-level strategies for engagement with Black communities statewide
  • Serve as a senior advisor to the CEO and Chief of Staff on matters involving Black communities, including political context, emerging issues, and community-defined priorities.
  • Partner with executive leadership to ensure PPWI’s commitment to health equity is reflected in organizational budgets, policies, and internal practices.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Executive Office and internal departments.  
  • Represent the Executive Office on PPWI’s Black Health Equity Initiative steering committee, serving as the liaison between the committee and the executive office to ensure alignment with priorities and strategy
  •  

  • Act as a surrogate for the CEO in meetings with Black elected officials, community leaders, advocacy groups, faith leaders, business owners, and civic institutions.
  • Cultivate and steward long-term partnerships with individuals, community-based organizations, grassroots coalitions, business networks, and civic groups.
  • Participate in and, when appropriate, convene stakeholder coalitions to advance shared goals.
  •  

  • Advance authentic, trust-based relationships through consistent presence, listening, transparency, and follow-through.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of external relationships and engagements within PPWI’s CRM system to support effective stewardship, reduce duplication of outreach, ensure cross-departmental coordination, and preserve institutional memory.
  • Advise internal teams on culturally relevant communications, messaging, and community positioning.
  • Educate the broader organization on community-identified strengths, leadership, and priorities that can enhance PPWI’s effectiveness as a partner in Black communities statewide.
  • Represent PPWI as a spokesperson at public forums, community events, and partner convenings.
