Join our team as a Post Build Specialist!
 

The Post-Build Specialist is responsible for maintaining a safe and productive working environment by ensuring that all 3D printed builds are inspected for defects, organized, and processed through the heat treatment process according to established procedures. They stage and organize parts for finishing while upholding safety and quality standards through meticulous attention to detail and effective use of checklists.

  • Review all builds for any visible part defects or build issues.  Notify the appropriate individual(s) to determine the next steps in addressing the issue and enter NCIS tickets if necessary for rebuilds.
  • Use all established procedures to properly clean all builds of excess powder prior to heat treatment.
  • Organize and process all build platforms per all established procedures and custom workflows for proper heat treatment.
  • Remove all parts from their platforms, organize them based on their individual lots to best maintain proper lot traceability, and transfer to the Finishing Department in an orderly manner.  If this cannot be accomplished with the bandsaw transport to the machine shop for EDM.
  • Effectively use all checklists associated with cleaning and processing of parts.
  • Perform scheduled PMs for all bandsaws, furnaces, and powder removal equipment.
  • Work with Finishing Supervisor, Lab Tech Supervisor, and DMLS Scheduling to help establish adequate throughput related to scheduled maintenance and other standard delays.
  • Work with the machine and finishing labs to ensure the proper work is being funneled through daily.
  • Transport and properly disposition all build platforms to their designated locations once they have been handed off by the lab techs.
  • Return all platforms to the machine shop for resurfacing and maintain a running tally of all platforms that are available in the labs according to material.
  • Ensure all checklists and end-of-day duties are completed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe production environment and assist with the restocking of supplies.
  • Assist in the removal and disposal of contaminated materials according to applicable procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and individual workspace and assist in general cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.
  • Observe and champion all Protolabs Safety and Quality policies and procedures, including use of any required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed footwear, etc.) and safety/compliance training.
  • Maintain collaborative and respectful working relationships.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned. 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to focus on one task for extended periods.
  • Excellent hand eye coordination.
  • Able to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Must be able to effectively collaborate with team members, leaders, and other departments.
  • Must have strong service and quality focus.
  • Able to comprehend and follow printed and computer-screen instructions, and direction from Supervisors and Leads.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak communicate English fluently.
  • Able to use a computer and calculator.
