The Puyallup Tribe of Indians provides a generous benefits package that includes employer paid medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a retirement/401(k) plan with profit sharing, paid holidays, and paid time off including birthday leave.             POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Resident Services and Compliance Manager, this position assists with planning and arranging social, cultural and recreational activities for participant families in the Puyallup Tribal Housing Department. Responsibilities will include assisting in coordinating event planning, researching social service resources, driving, shopping, cooking, preparing and distributing flyers, event set-up and clean-up, and working with families on individual needs.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assists Gym Activities Coordinator with co-organizing and planning cultural/recreational activities for tenants in tribal housing. Suggests ideas that will engage participation in Housing. Develops and maintains a positive rapport with housing tenants at social, cultural, and recreational events. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekend events. Gather information from tribal, federal, state, and local entities about social services resources available to families in tribal housing. Responsible for supervising open gym and other events, as assigned by supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities.         QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or GED and one year of related experience. Basic beginner level experience in computer skills, specifically working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher required.   Language Skills Ability to identify, read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Employee should have the ability to communicate effectively in a large setting. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Licenses or Certificates Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted Washington State driver’s license. Driver’s license must not contain any restrictions that would prevent the employee from driving a GSA vehicle. Must be able to pass a criminal background to work with children check prior to and throughout employment. Experience driving large utility vans preferred. Other Skills and Abilities Must have experience working with Native populations centered on community building. Knowledge of working with disadvantage/at risk community members preferred. Familiarity with social justice issues that affect Native communities preferred. Experience organizing and executing large recreational events preferred. Should have a strong work ethic and comfort level to network with other entities within the tribe.           PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.           WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
