Qualdoc is seeking CDL-A Equipment Operators/Laborers for an exciting position involving responding to train derailments and supporting railroad track operations throughout the region.
This role is responsible for the safe transportation of equipment and materials to and from job sites, operation of heavy equipment (if qualified), and assisting with rerailing operations, railroad car maintenance and repair, load adjustments/transfers, and track maintenance, repair, and new construction. All work must be performed in a safe, professional, and efficient manner.
This is a full-time direct hire opportunity with benefits.
40 hours guaranteed each week
Significant overtime available (average 60+ hours/week including OT)
On call 24/7 to respond to emergency situations
Starting pay: $26.00/hour and up, depending on experience
Hours worked outside of Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM are paid at overtime rate (time and a half)

Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment in accordance with company policy and DOT regulations
Drive tractor-trailers to and from job sites and inspect loads and transported machinery
Verify transportation permits for overweight and oversized loads/equipment
Participate in daily work planning and safety briefings to ensure safe and efficient operations
Move, stage, load, and unload equipment and materials for rerailing, load transfers, and track maintenance/construction activities
Assist with site cleanup and ensure equipment and materials are safely secured for transport after assignments
Assist in the assembly, inspection, and operation of cranes and other heavy equipment
Support rigging operations involving chains, cables, and winches during derailment recovery
Operate heavy equipment including cranes, backhoes, excavators, dump trucks, grapple trucks, skid steers, and other machinery as qualified
Use hydraulic tools, welding equipment, cutting torches, electrical tools, and hand tools as needed
Monitor equipment and vehicles to minimize downtime and maintain operational readiness
Perform and document minor equipment maintenance and report major mechanical issues to supervisors
Assist with disassembly and loading of cranes and other equipment at the completion of projects
Restock vehicles and equipment with parts and supplies upon return to home base
Maintain clean and organized vehicles, equipment, and work areas
Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Be flexible and willing to assist other departments as needed to support business operations and customer expectations
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) with a good driving record
Experience in construction labor or other physically demanding work environments
Ability to pass qualification testing and required safety/training programs
Must be available 24/7 to respond to emergency service calls, including weekends and holidays
3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, bulldozers, excavators, front-end loaders, grapple trucks, rail-bound equipment, tractors, or skid steers
Railroad, rerailing, or track maintenance experience preferred
