Class A CDL Heavy Equipment & Rail Operations Technician

Starting Pay: $26.00/hour + overtime; higher pay may be available based on experience
We are hiring an experienced Class A CDL Equipment Operator for field-based rail and heavy equipment operations. This position involves transporting equipment, supporting emergency re-railing work, and assisting with rail maintenance, equipment recovery, load transfers, and related construction activities.
40 hours guaranteed per week
Regular and overtime hours typically average 60+ hours per week
24/7 on-call availability for emergency response
Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM is the regular schedule
Hours outside the regular schedule are paid at time-and-a-half
Per diem provided
Hotel accommodations/pay for travel
Layover pay when applicable

Complete DOT-compliant pre- and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment
Operate tractor-trailers to transport equipment and materials to and from job sites
Inspect loads and verify permits for oversized or overweight equipment
Participate in daily safety meetings and work planning
Load, unload, stage, and secure equipment and materials
Support re-railing, load adjustment/transfer, track maintenance, repairs, grading, and railroad construction
Assist with setup, inspection, and operation of cranes and other heavy equipment
Assist with rigging chains, cables, and winches during derailment response
Operate equipment such as cranes, backhoes, grapple trucks, dump trucks, excavators, bulldozers, front-end loaders, rail-bound equipment, tractors, and skid steers
Use hydraulic tools, welding equipment, cutting torches, electrical tools, and hand tools
Monitor vehicles and equipment for safe and reliable operation
Perform and document minor equipment and vehicle servicing
Assist with equipment disassembly, loading, cleanup, and site restoration
Restock vehicles and equipment and organize parts, supplies, tools, and scrap materials
Keep work areas, vehicles, and equipment clean and organized
Follow all required safety procedures and support other departments as needed
Class A CDL with a good driving record
Experience in construction, heavy labor, equipment operation, or a related field
Ability to pass required qualification, training, and safety programs
Ability to respond to emergency service calls 24/7, including weekends and holidays
Ability to perform physically demanding field work
3+ years of heavy equipment operation, including backhoe, bulldozer, excavator, front-end loader, grapple truck, rail-bound equipment, tractor, or skid-steer
Equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered
