Supports the university’s efforts related to planning, development, and implementation of trainings, referral pathways and supporting triage, crisis intervention and case management. This position is a one-year appointment funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Garrett Lee Smith (GLS) Campus Suicide Prevention Grant.

 

  • Supports the development and management of the advisory council who will work to identify gaps in student mental health services, education, information and communication
  • Builds, expands and sustains relationships with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen available student referral networks for mental health and substance abuse
  • Collaborates with the university clinical team to provide student support through case management, triage and crisis intervention
  • Collaborates with the project director to engage community-based providers and develop formal student referral pathways
  • Serves as the primary program liaison supporting various internal and external meetings, as well as interactions with students, referral organizations and others, as appropriate
  • Collaborates with other university departments to maintain an understanding of internal student referral procedures in an effort to refer students in distress to the appropriate on-campus resources
  • Develops, organizes and implements relevant mental health and substance training and educational programming for the campus community to reduce stigma and increase access to care for university students
  • Organizes and develops social media campaigns surrounding mental health, substance abuse and crisis intervention
  • Supports the program director with long-term program planning
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master's degree
  • Experience working in case management, direct clinical experience, experience working with diverse populations or other related experience
  • Clinical license in Rhode Island
