About the Role
~1 min readAs a Regional Relieving Medical Scientist, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, multi-disciplinary pathology services across our regional laboratories. This is an exciting opportunity to broaden your professional experience, build specialised knowledge and use your scientific expertise across a diverse range of diagnostic services. You will undertake increasingly complex professional tasks, applying sound scientific knowledge, professional judgement and practical problem-solving skills to diagnostic procedures, method selection, troubleshooting and analysis.
Working across Regional Services laboratories, you will provide valuable roster support and contribute to a collaborative, patient-focused team. You will bring your operational experience and commitment to ongoing professional development to support quality outcomes, including validation of Quality Control at a supervisory level under the direction of management. With opportunities to work across different laboratory environments and disciplines, this role is ideal for a Medical Scientist who enjoys variety, values teamwork and is motivated to make a meaningful contribution to quality pathology services in regional communities.
We are looking for a skilled and adaptable Medical Scientist who brings strong scientific expertise, sound professional judgement and a commitment to delivering high-quality pathology services across regional laboratories. You will be confident working independently, thrive in a changing environment and be willing to travel and provide support across Regional Services.

Qualified and experienced: Hold an appropriate medical science qualification recognised under NPAAC requirements, with relevant experience in a medical laboratory and the provision of quality pathology services.

Scientifically capable: Bring strong knowledge and practical expertise in a relevant medical laboratory discipline, including laboratory principles, diagnostic procedures, quality systems and quality control and assurance.

Adaptable and solutions-focused: Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure with limited supervision, apply initiative, prioritise workflow, troubleshoot equipment and technical issues, and quickly acquire and apply new skills.

Collaborative and professional: Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and stakeholders, contribute positively to teamwork, motivate others and maintain high standards of customer service, confidentiality and professional practice, with a willingness to travel and work across regional laboratories.
