Location: Eastern Europe, CIS, and the Balkans 

Salary: $1,800-$2,200/month gross
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week (Strong overlap with Madrid working hours. Minimum 4-5 hours of overlap.)

In This Role, You’ll:

Act as the operational backbone of finance in a lean, fast-moving e-commerce company. This isn't a traditional Head of Finance role, it's an individual contributor position with strong process ownership and real growth potential. You'll take full ownership of management finance, reporting, cash flow visibility, payroll operations, and the finance processes that keep the business running.

You'll work hands-on across FP&A, controlling, and accounting operations, often with imperfect data, multiple systems, outsourced accounting providers, and manual workflows that still need to be improved, documented, or automated. This is a builder-oriented, tech-forward role: you won't just report on the numbers, you'll fix how they're produced. As you prove ownership over the function, the scope can expand naturally into broader Finance leadership over time.

What You'll Be Doing

• FP&A & Management Reporting: Own monthly P&L, budget vs actual, cash flow forecasting, and KPI reporting for COO/CEO.
• Accounting Control & Data Quality: Proactively monitor P&L, reconciliations, and margin data to catch inconsistencies before they compound, not just review after the fact.
• Finance Operations & Process Improvement: Continuously map and refine finance processes, closing gaps and tightening controls across internal and external systems.
• Automation & AI-Supported Finance: Drive automation and AI adoption to reduce manual work and free up capacity for higher-value analysis.
• COGS, Unit Economics & Profitability: Partner with Commercial and Supply Chain on COGS visibility and SKU/channel-level profitability.
• Payroll & Contractor Payments (lighter weight): Oversee payroll operations via automated tools/external providers, administrative, not a core time driver.
• Cross-functional Partnership: Act as a financial advisor to Commercial, Purchasing, Operations, and Warehousing.

What You’ll Bring:

Required Experience 

• 4–8 years of experience in FP&A, controlling, finance operations, audit, or controller role 
• English C1, Spanish is a plus.
• Hands-on experience building or maintaining P&L, cash flow, budgets, forecasts
• Experience working with external accountants, tax advisors, or accounting providers.
• Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency, marketplace, e-commerce, retail, trading, logistics, or inventory-based businesses is highly preferred. 
• Proven experience with automating the finance process 

Finance & Accounting Skills 

• Strong FP&A and controlling foundation: strong understanding of P&L, cash flow, Budget vs Actual, variance analysis, management reporting, and monthly close logic.
• Accounting fluency: accruals, AR/AP, bank reconciliation, cut-off, COGS, gross margin, and ability to challenge accounting data. 
• Strong technical skills: Experience with ERP or accounting systems, advanced Excel / Google Sheets, structured reporting, and work with messy data from multiple sources.
• Process ownership: ability to improve recurring finance workflows, document processes, and reduce manual dependency. 
• Business partnership: ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and support decisions with numbers.  
• Automation mindset: curiosity and willingness to use AI, automation tools, and modern workflows to improve finance processes. 
• Strong working style: hands-on, structured, detail-oriented, proactive, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to work directly with the COO without a management buffer. 

Strong Plus / Nice-to-Have Experience 

• Experience automating finance processes or working with finance automation tools.
• Holded, QuickBooks, Power BI, Looker, NetSuite, SAP, or similar systems. 
• SQL, Python, Make, Zapier, APIs, or other automation tools. 
• AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, or similar. 
• Marketplace / e-commerce experience, including reporting tools.
