Amazon RIVR is a robotics company pioneering Physical AI through real-world doorstep delivery. Founded in 2024 as an ETH Zurich spin-off, RIVR developed wheeled-legged robots designed to operate in complex, unstructured environments such as stairs, gates, doors, and uneven urban terrain. We believe that achieving general physical intelligence requires solving real customer problems in the real world, where robots can learn from rich operational data at scale.

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on and technically strong IT Manager to lead the development of a scalable and secure IT infrastructure that will support our company's rapid growth and integration into Amazon’s global ecosystem. The ideal candidate is a technical leader who is not "above" the day-to-day, buying and setting up laptops or managing hardware inventory, but is also driven enough to automate or find efficient outsourcing solutions for such tasks. This role is global in scope, requiring a strong focus on communication and documentation to support our teams across three continents.

Maintain and improve a scalable IT infrastructure including networking (routers, gateways, switches, ethernet, Wi-Fi), and secure remote access (VPNs).

Manage the full hardware lifecycle: procurement and inventory management for laptops, peripherals, network equipment, and specialized robotics assets.

Oversee IT security, including endpoint protection, identity management, and regular audits. Lead the technical transition and alignment with Amazon’s global security standards.

Develop and maintain IT procedures for data backup, security protocols, and acceptable use.

Administer and configure core corporate software and cloud services; manage user accounts and permissions.

Partner with Hardware (CAD, ECAD, PLM), DevOps, and MLOps teams to ensure seamless integration between corporate IT and development/production environments.

Identify and automate repetitive tasks through scripting (Python/Bash) to reduce manual effort and improve global efficiency.

Provide high-tier support for all employees, troubleshooting complex hardware, software, and connectivity issues.

Lead the IT onboarding process for new hires, ensuring equipment is ready and users are oriented on RIVR/Amazon tools and policies.

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all IT processes to empower a distributed, global workforce.

Proven technical leadership with a hands-on, all-rounder mentality.

Experience designing and maintaining scalable IT infrastructure in high-growth tech environments.

Experience with hardware procurement and global inventory management.

Strong understanding of IT security, including access management and security audits.

Proficiency in scripting and automation tools to improve operational efficiency.

Excellent communication and documentation skills to manage an international scope across three continents.
