Certified Peer Recovery Specialist

We are looking for a certified peer support specialist.

Hours: 1pm-4pm, Mon-Fri

The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist is a fully integrated member of the 245G clinical team who provides individualized and group services in the community and promotes client self-determination and decision making. Peer Recovery Specialists also provide essential expertise and consultation to the entire team to promote a culture in which each person's point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and community self-help activities.

The Peer Specialist will support anti-oppressive/anti-racist practice, and trauma-responsive practice, through their administrative and operations support of program staff working on site and in community to address socioeconomic and health disparity. Experience and interest in working with clients with a range of identities including age, developmental and acquired disabilities, religion, spirituality, ethnicity, race, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, relationship structure, indigenous heritage, national origin, immigration status, and gender is required.

• →10-11 hour per week CPRS
• →5 hours per week Treatment Coordination
• →4-5 hours week admin/outreach
• →Total billables = 15 hours per week
• →Provide peer-recovery education and assists peers with assessing their unique strengths and abilities
• →Helps peers with identifying, developing, and working towards recovery goals and self-advocacy
• →Helps peers identify and access appropriate professional resources
• →Acts as a community liaison
• →Provides education for team members regarding the recovery process
• →Assists in implementing and developing treatment goal plans
• →Provides care and resources for clients and staff on culture
• →Reports significant/major incidents or accidents
• →Adheres to data privacy practices/HIPAA
• →Writes progress notes, and assists in summaries and discharges
• →Provides objective verbal and written critical incident analysis
• →Receives one hour of monthly supervision by a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor
• →Outreach to sober houses
• →Outreach to detox centers, hospitals etc. to inform them of our program
• →Other related duties as assigned

• Have a high school diploma or its equivalent
• Have a minimum of one year in recovery from substance use disorder
• Hold a current credential from the Minnesota Certification Board, the Upper Midwest Indian Council on Addictive Disorders, or the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors
• An individual may also receive a credential from a tribal nation when providing peer recovery support services in a tribally licensed program.
• Credential must demonstrate skills and training in the domains of ethics and boundaries, advocacy, mentoring and education, and recovery and wellness support; and receive ongoing supervision in areas specific to the domains of the recovery peer's role by an alcohol and drug counselor.

This role requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, as well as travel within the community for outreach and client support. Duties may involve occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs), frequent use of a computer, and the ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone. Flexibility to navigate various community and office environments is necessary.
