Job Overview

The Production Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating production activities during an assigned shift to ensure production goals are met safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established quality standards and company procedures.

This position is located at Royer North, within the Department of Corrections facility on the Hilltop in Madison, Indiana. The Production Lead provides day-to-day direction, support, and guidance to production employees while monitoring workflow, production performance, safety, and quality.

The Production Lead will assist with identifying and resolving issues that may impact safety, quality, productivity, or daily operations. This role works closely with production leadership and employees to maintain a safe, productive, and organized work environment while ensuring company expectations and procedures are consistently followed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate production employees during an assigned shift.
  • Assign work and monitor production schedules, priorities, and output to ensure daily goals are met.
  • Ensure employees follow all company safety policies, quality standards, operating procedures, and work instructions.
  • Monitor equipment, materials, and workflow to identify and address potential production issues.
  • Troubleshoot production problems and escalate issues to the appropriate supervisor or management when necessary.
  • Train, coach, and support employees on proper processes, procedures, and job responsibilities.
  • Monitor and track production metrics, including output, downtime, scrap, efficiency, and other performance indicators.
  • Communicate shift updates, production concerns, staffing issues, priorities, and other relevant information to supervisors and management.
  • Assist with identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency, improve quality, and reduce waste.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and organized production environment.
  • Assist with maintaining adequate workflow and staffing throughout the shift.
  • Provide leadership and support to production employees while promoting accountability and adherence to company expectations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or management based on business and production needs.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership or lead experience preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety, quality, and operating procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide direction to others.
  • Basic understanding of production metrics and performance expectations preferred.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and accountability while working with employees across multiple shifts and departments.
  • Candidate must be willing to complete a background clearance form to work on property at the Department of Corrections. 
  • Team members are expected to perform duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor or management, as demands require.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing and production environment.
  • Position may require standing, walking, bending, lifting, and other physical activities associated with the production environment.
  • Must be willing to work the assigned shift and overtime as production needs require.
  • Must follow all company safety requirements and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.

1A Shift:
Monday–Wednesday: 3:00 AM–3:00 PM
Thursday: 3:00 AM–9:00 AM

1B Shift:
Monday–Wednesday: 3:00 PM–3:00 AM
Thursday: 3:00 PM–9:00 PM

2A Shift:
Thursday: 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
Friday–Sunday: 3:00 AM–3:00 PM

2B Shift:
Thursday: 9:00 PM–3:00 AM
Friday–Sunday: 3:00 PM–3:00 AM
