Safety Worxs is seeking a Project Safety Coordinator for a boiler project in Austin, TX. The (PSC) is responsible for leading and managing all construction safety activities from project commencement through substantial completion. This role ensures full compliance with federal, state, and project-specific safety standards while fostering a proactive, positive safety culture. The PSC will remain active on the project until the ODR provides written concurrence for removal.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and oversee the project’s safety program throughout the full construction lifecycle.
- Implement and manage construction safety processes, including hazard identification, mitigation, and routine field inspections.
- Conduct incident investigations and prepare documentation with preventive recommendations.
- Provide documented continuing education and practical training in:
- Fall Protection
- Scaffolds
- Excavation & Trenching
- Confined Space
- Crane/Equipment Operations
- Electrical Safety
- Incident Investigation
- Review and approve safety method statements and procedures related to high-hazard activities.
- Coordinate emergency response planning, including First Aid/CPR/AED requirements.
- Maintain accurate safety records, compliance documentation, and training evidence.
- Serve as a liaison with project leadership for all safety matters.
- Ensure subcontractors adhere to project safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years building construction safety, including:
- 5+ years in construction safety process management; or
- 4-year safety degree and 3+ years of actual field safety experience.
- Experience must be building construction only (General Industry or specialty-only backgrounds will not qualify)
- Documented continuing education in the following, (min. 4 hours per topic) dated within the last 5 years:
- Fall Protection
- Scaffolds
- Excavation
- Confined Space
- Crane/Equipment Operations
- Electrical Safety
- Incident Investigation
- Other relevant safety/health topics
- Must possess OSHA 500 (Construction Industry Trainer) OR OSHA 502 (Trainer Update).
- OSHA 10 or 30 and OSHA 510 do not satisfy the training requirement.
- Current certifications (within 2 years) in:
- Emergency First Aid
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
Preferred:
- CSP, CHST, or other BCSP certifications (may count toward experience)
- There is not per diem, so local candidate preferred.
- Proven ability to build and maintain a proactive safety culture
