About the company

Satellogic is a vertically integrated Earth Observation company that designs, manufactures, and operates satellite systems, delivering decision-grade insights at scale to government and commercial customers.

We build space systems end-to-end, from satellite design and manufacturing to launch and on-orbit operations, giving us the ability to deploy quickly, operate reliably, and support persistent monitoring across regions and priority areas. Our approach moves customers beyond one-off imagery toward continuous awareness and alert-driven decision-making, with flexible pathways that can evolve from managed monitoring to full satellite ownership and sovereign control.

Our technology supports a wide range of use cases across climate monitoring, agriculture, energy, infrastructure, defense and intelligence, helping organizations detect change, manage risk, and plan with confidence.

With a team distributed across five countries, Satellogic brings together expertise in satellite engineering, software development, data science, manufacturing, operations, and go-to-market. We’re a group of purpose-driven builders who value ownership, curiosity, and execution—and who work with humility, honesty, and empathy.

About the team

The Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) team serves as the vital bridge between Satellite Engineering and our Pilot Plant. We guarantee that the satellites we design can be produced using repeatable, scalable processes. We are the nexus between design and manufacturing, working under tight deadlines to ensure rapid production feasibility.

About the Internship

As a Mechanical AIT Intern, you will be responsible for the physical realization of our spacecraft. You won't just be looking at CAD models; you will be hands-on in the cleanroom, ensuring that structural components, thermal systems, and optical payloads are integrated perfectly. You will play a key role in environmental testing (vibration, thermal-vacuum) to ensure our satellites survive the rigors of launch and the space environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Integration: Assist in the physical assembly of satellite structures, ensuring all components meet strict mechanical tolerances.
  • Test Fixture Design: Design and iterate on Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and specialized tooling used during the assembly process.
  • Environmental Testing:
Support structural and thermal testing campaigns, including the setup and execution of complex vibration and shock tests.
  • Instrumentation & DAQ: Assist in the instrumentation of test articles using piezoelectric sensors and high-precision data acquisition systems.
  • Data Analysis: Participate in real-time measurement monitoring and the post-processing of vibration and acoustic data.
  • Test Fixture Design: Design and iterate on Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and specialized tooling used during the assembly process.
  • Documentation & Processes: Help define and document repeatable assembly procedures to scale our production capabilities.

About you

Required Technical Skills:

  • Student Status:
Currently enrolled in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electromechanical Engineering (or similar) in Uruguay.
  • CAD Proficiency: Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, NX, or Catia).
  • Structural Fundamentals: Solid understanding of materials, mechanics of solids, and structural analysis.
  • Technical Drawing: Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Hands-on Aptitude: Experience using precision hand tools, torque wrenches, and metrology equipment.

Desirable Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of Vibration Theory (Sine, Random, and Shock).
  • Familiarity with data acquisition hardware and transducer setup.
  • Basic knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Knowledge of Python or MATLAB for basic data analysis of test results.

Location

  • The Production Plant is located in Zonamerica, Montevideo (Uruguay). Working hours are from 8 AM to 12 PM (GMT-3, Montevideo) or from 1 PM to 5 PM (Part-time)

Diversity Commitment

Satellogic values diversity and inclusion and is an equal opportunity employer. We are convinced that hiring and developing top talent from around the world for any given discipline will drive innovation, generate new solutions, and deliver a superior product to our global customer base. We work to build an equitable and inclusive environment in which all people, regardless of gender, race, religion, or background, can come together to do their best work.
