We are seeking a motivated Automation Systems Engineer IoT to join our advanced manufacturing engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and integrate IoT‑enabled hardware and software solutions that enhance automation, enable real-time data collection, and improve system connectivity across our manufacturing environments.
This position combines hands‑on technical expertise with systems thinking and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver robust, scalable solutions that support Resideo’s global Industry 5.0 ambitions.
You will play a key role in identifying and delivering improvement initiatives, driving measurable value across our production sites in Europe and Mexico through increased efficiency and cost optimisation.
The ideal candidate will bring practical experience with industrial hardware, basic coding capability, familiarity with manufacturing environments, and a strong interest in international collaboration, including frequent travel.
- Design, prototype, and integrate IoT and automation solutions combining hardware and software components
- Connect and configure industrial hardware (sensors, RFID, modules) and communication interfaces (IO-Link, RS232/485, CAN, etc.)
- Develop and maintain embedded systems (Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi) and APIs for system integration
- Implement data communication protocols (e.g., MQTT, Modbus, TCP/IP) and enable system interoperability
- Support development of applications for data collection, storage, and analysis (SQL, Python, C#)
- Provide technical support for delivered solutions, verify functionality, and troubleshoot hardware/software issues
- Document system architecture, configurations, and testing procedures
- Collaborate with manufacturing sites and stakeholders across Europe, with frequent travel required
Requirements
~1 min read- Hands-on experience working with industrial hardware, such as sensors and RFID systems
- Basic coding capability in one or more of the following: C#, Python, or SQL
- Knowledge of embedded programming using platforms such as Arduino, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi
- Willingness to travel internationally, with a valid driving license
- Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Highly motivated with a proactive, self‑driven approach
- Strong ability to learn quickly and adapt to new IoT and automation technologies
- Systems thinking mindset, with the ability to understand and design interconnected solutions
- Clear and effective communicator of technical concepts, tasks, and results
- Experience integrating hardware modules into functional systems
- Ability to test, verify, and validate hardware and software system performance
