Scope operates seven Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes across the Hunter Region and is currently recruiting for both permanent and casual Support Worker positions at our three Bonnells Bay sites.

These homes provide support to individuals with complex mental health needs, psychosocial and intellectual disabilities, and, in some cases, a history of involvement with the criminal justice system. The people we support may present with complex behaviours and require consistent, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centred approaches to achieve their goals and maintain their independence.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, emotional resilience, professional boundaries, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated support team.

  • Continuous site-specific training and online modules.
  • Promote choice and control and show eagerness to participate in our clients’ day to day routines, goals, and interests.
  • Thoroughly follow behavioural support plans, restrictive practices and client care support plans as directed by clinical teams and site managers.
  • Encourage capacity building to enhance clients’ current skills, such as hygiene, safe relationships, domestic duties, using public transport and accessing the community safely.
  • Provide person centered active support to build independence.
  • Support clients who require personal care or emotional support around hygiene with dignity and respect - personal care is required for all sites.
  • To be competent in your computer/ IT skills and excellent report writing!

Requirements

We are aware there are quite a few compliance checks (listed below) for this role however, what’s important to us is that you a P2 NSW Drivers License or higher and flexible availability across a 24/7 roster - this includes 7-3pm, 3-11pm, and 11-7am.
